Ioniq 5 Is Great
--------------------------------------------
Top 5 things I like, in no order:
--------------------------------------------
-It's all electric. No more stops at gas stations, so far for me this has worked out great as I have charging for free at my work place and 99% of the time I charge at work. Really it's one of the main reasons I went all electric. 40 miles to and from work per day in gas could add up. Though I do need to factor in still paying off the Ioniq 5, but eventually it will make sense.
-The size of the Ioniq 5 is about right. Classified as a SUV I guess, but it really just seems more like the size of a VW Golf or something like that. It's the perfect not too big, not too small size and I've never had a car that wasn't a standard trunk, I feel I have way more space now. I can clean the roof off without a step ladder, yet I can fold the seats down and sleep in the car like for camping and I'm 6' 2."
-AWD is awesome. My old car was RWD, a 2018 Charger RT, and during rainy days it didn't cooperate if I wasn't careful, I also almost got stuck areas with it a couple times. Meanwhile I can floor it full throttle in the Ioniq 5 on a wet road and it doesn't care, though I do avoid that. I feel I could go into a somewhat snowy area on the tires it has now and be OK.
-Something I wish my old car had was adaptive cruise control and yeah that has been amazing. I drive with that on most of the time now. Really this is one of the main things I looked for getting a new car and I wanted to make sure the SE trim had it.
-The quiet. As much as I liked the noisy V8 I had before with my modified exhaust, it's nice to now just enjoy the quiet of the Ioniq 5 and I'm sure nearly everyone else feels the same.

Top 5 things I don't like:
---------------------------------
-How did they make a modern car that can unlock and re-lock when I don't enter, which tells me it's capable of self locking, or warn me constantly that my door is unlocked on an app, but doesn't just LOCK THE DOOR. Car really needs a lock automatically when walking away feature. I feel like this could work on 22/23 models with a software update, just not sure why it hasn't been a thing yet.
-Charging on a level 2 when it's hot is a problem. I have to set it to 60%, minimal as it was called, during the summer or it just stops entirely and this sucks. I wish it would just throttle the charge speed and not stop it entirely, I've had hours go by where it stopped and I didn't know it. I've learned to just keep it at the lowest charge for now and probably will have to keep it at that until late October.
-No way to drop rear seats from the trunk. Not necessary by any means, but would have been a useful feature.
-Nothing against the car on this one, but the few times I've charged using Electrify America it's worked.. but was kind of a pain to get it working. Charging for electric in general needs to improve and have a standard. From what I've heard this is where Tesla is way better.
-As far as I know we still have no over the air updates in the US.
-------------------------------------------------------
Here's some of the problems I've had:-
------------------------------------------------------
-Level 2 charging as I mentioned already.
-Pressing button on the charging door does nothing most of the time. I have to use the remote. Not sure why the button doesn't work, I can clearly hear the button click, it just wont open. Still closes just fine so I may need to rig something to make it work.
-USB port for playing music is on the way out. Mine randomly cuts out so I need to look at a replacement.
-Once had the second screen go black and reset. Not the driver info screen but the other one. Only happened once, and that was a early in to when I got it.
-Twice had the adaptive cruise just stopped working saying it was disabled. One day it was a little foggy so I get that, other day though it was clear but the sun was directly on the car so maybe that's why. Only had it twice and both early on when I got the car.
-------------------------------------------------------------
My opinion on some common complaints:
-------------------------------------------------------------
-Lack of rear wiper. To me this is not a concern at all. I've driven trucks & vans that have no rear view at all and were much larger, plus the Ioniq 5 has a great backup cam. So I don't see the need for this. I've shaded most of my rear window trying to cover it up from bright lights, so I actually want the rear window to be more covered, but that's just my opinion.
-Heard the sound system in the car isn't great, but I think it's perfectly fine, the car is so quiet even on the highway you don't even need to crank the audio that much.
-No wireless Apple CarePlay or Android Auto. Not a bother for me.
-Small trunk space. To me it's plenty big, especially having the entire under section for storage.
-Poor turn radius. Never been an issue for where I drive and park.
----------------------------------------------------------
Why the SE and not the SEL or Limited?
----------------------------------------------------------
I got the SE at the time because it's what they had, it's all they had. I would maybe have got the SEL but honestly none of the features in it impress me, maybe the auto rear hatch but that's really it. I didn't even consider the Limited, I sure as heck don't want a sun roof. Don't care about heads up display or any of that, and they actually loose space in the rear truck under area due to a large subwoofer, I feel like that's a negative.
