Great car, software lags

This is a great car, as a daily driver and for the long trips. Great fast charging, comfortable and a pleasure to drive. The software running on it? Not so much - from the little things, as the bottom up display of the next turns or exits - to the opaque and lagging release of updates for maps and software.

I love this car! (But I’m nervous)

I enjoy driving this car more than any I’ve ever owned. It’s my first EV and, especially right now, I love not paying for gasoline! I have a level 2 charger in my garage and it’s super convenient. I’m getting better and more confident about taking it on longer trips as well. The technology is top notch, the maps and navigation work great, the cameras and highway driver assist are amazing. I have a HUD on my Limited as well, which I love. The only thing I’m nervous about are tue ICCU issues. As much as I love the car, I always feel a low level anxiety about the ICCU popping and being dead in the water. Hyundai must come up with a reliable and permanent fix for this issue which has affected far too many of their EVs. Exact numbers aren’t released but estimates range from 3% to 10% of vehicles suffering from this issue. I hope that I’m in the luckier 97% and will never have to deal with it, but it seems like quite an Achilles heel for an otherwise incredible EV!

Great for you first EV Car

I love this car to drive it's fast, Smooth, the Inoiq 5 have a lot of great features works well with this car comfortable fun to drive great performance especially the digital features and the Interior Design is awesome. just over all a great car.

Add a few things, take away a few things.

Mostly positive developments over my '24 Ioniq 5. A rear window wiper! (but only 12", boo!) Flopped some of the steering wheel controls (why?) Took away the drivers overhead grab handle. I know via Reddit that many have run into charging system problems. I have not.

Not happy with the 12v. Battery. Failed twice with dealer claiming not defective. I believe 12v should have been replaced at least to give my wife some confidence in the car not stranding her somewhere.

Our Hyundai Ionic EV after a year

After a year with our new EV, overall we are very pleased with our choice. The car drives easily and well, the inside is roomy and comfortable, and the charging with our driveway Level 2 charger also works smoothly and well. One the best features is the well over 350 mile range of this new EV, so with this car that we use mostly for local errands and visits, we only need to charge it about every 3 weeks. Another feature that we insisted on, having an NACS charger port, has worked out well too. Without an adapter, I can plug this EV into the many Tesla supercharger sites already spread around our region and country. I also keep handy the adapter, which we recently used on a driving trip up the East Coast of the US. The only thing that arises as an annoyance is the large size of the vehicle. Even though a standard SUV size, it's far wider and longer than our previous vehicle. This means that pulling out of the narrow driveway of our 103 year old home is always a challenge. Also, I have already has several conversations with people at a couple of different shop parking lots, where the cars are too large for the older parking spaces - causing us to agree that the remedy IS NOT bigger parking spaces, but instead offering what used to be standard sized cars instead of the supersized ones that our carmakers pump us to want.

roomy, reliable, nice color, priced well, charges well, handles well except in rain interior materials need to be upgraded - looks and feels below expectations but more so scratches too easily - wear and tear is too vulnerable even though I'm a very careful person.

2025 Ioniq 5 Limited

Bought it new but it has lots of creaks, rattles, and noises while driving. Wipers are poor (can't be lifted off of windshield; quality of blade is poor). In daylight, it's virtually impossible to see the instrument panel controls (temperature, fan speed, etc.). Representations by dealer at time of sale were that the car was compatible with Tesla charging stations - which is only PARTLY true. Don't need 20 inch tires on the Limited edition.

Best most unreliable car I ever owned

Excellent to drive but unreliable and Hyundai doesn’t seem to care. I will not purchase another Hyundai until I am certain reliability is a high priority for the company.

Happy with my Ioniq 5 Limited, but some issues

First off, I love the ride. It's much smoother than my previous EV and has more than enough pickup for my driving habits. I love the screens and CarPlay, and I would almost definitely buy it again knowing what I know now. That said, I have a few issues with it. The primary issue is the ICCU problem. I believe Hyundai is getting its hands around this, since when mine DID die (luckily the day AFTER I returned from a road trip!) I got the car back 3 days later. Nothing like the horror stories I've heard of it taking months for people to get their cars back, and what I've seen on the internet says that this isn't unique, others are also getting their cars back quickly. That's my main qualm, the reason I might not re-purchase... It's a big unknown why it happens, so there's nothing I can do to prevent it. Other than that, I only have nit-picks. The car needs to be explicitly turned on/off, it doesn't automatically lock when I walk away, and the seat moves back and forward every time I open the door. Ideally it would turn itself off (to the extent that's meaningful on an EV), would have an auto-lock to mirror its auto-unlock, and (since the car requires starting/stopping the seat would move back when you turn it off (or open the door) and only move forward when you turn the car back on. Not a huge deal. The other 'tricky' thing is with the navigation system. it's confusing that you read it bottom-up instead of top-down!! And I have twice (just in the last week) had it direct me to ChargePoint stations I couldn't use - the first time was at a Hyundai dealer in CT that would only let you charge there if you bought the car there (!!!!) and the second, the chargers (which I'd used a few weeks earlier) were being replaced. That's not necessarily a Hyundai problem, but it would be lovely if there were better synchronization between ChargePoint and the "Charging Station Search". But, overall, I'm happy with the car. I like that the rear seats can be tilted back, that there are multiple presets for the driver's seat, and that I can use my phone as digital key.

Ioniq 5 has some annoying problems

In addition to a fatal battery issue that is "known" to Hyundai, it took close to two weeks to fix. My car only had about 3000 miles on it at the time and was less than a year old. Also, a door rattle that has also been plaguing Ioniq 5s for years and is "known" to Hyundai resulted in two trips to the dealership with no fix. Our home made solution: duct tape. I generally like my car, but am disappointed that the engineers at Hyundai have not fixed long-standing problems with the model. I'm sure we'll discover more glitches in the coming years? Hope not!

My Ioniq 5

I love driving the car. I reported that the outside back passenger door handle does not work correctly about 3 months after the car was leased. I only just realized that the electric port cover also doesn’t open from the outside. Never has but I thought you could only open it from the inside until a family member explained that it should open from outside of the car. I have asked 2 different dealers three times for a repair and no one helps me. They always say it will be soon. I’m frustrated. The car has defects and I should either get a rebate or a reduced charge.
