Best EV!

As our first EV, the Ioniq 5 not only made us believers in the maturity and quality of EV technology, but it was also our first Hyundai. After 3 years, we are not only impressed with the car's range, charging speed, power, comfort, drivability, reliability, build quality, tech and safety features and overall value, but Hyundai has also demonstrated that they value their customers and want to keep them. They provided a free CCS adapter for use is Tesla supercharger network, for example.

First Time EV owner turned Forever EV Owner

The 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 I leased from Balise Hyundai has been the perfect car for me and my family. Even more so now that decisions from "above" have caused a surge in gasoline prices, we have experienced great joy knowing that using an EV has a demonstrable, personal-level impact on climate change. We're hooked.

Programming could use some improvements

When I walk up to my car from the trunk side the back hatch and doors will auto unlock until I reach the driver door and then it suddenly locks again. Almost like my car is pranking me. If I walk away and walk directly to the driver door, it will unlock properly. This along with not having the option for auto lock when walking away is my biggest pet peeve with this car. Another oversight is that the only way to open the charging port door is from the key fob. I have not found a way to open it from inside the car. If there is a way, its hidden far too much. The car app is frustrating to use and really needs an overhaul to make it useful. Add keyless driving and immediate response on the commands similar to Tesla. Otherwise I have enjoyed the overall experience in this car. It is more comfortable, spacious and has more features and range than my previous tesla model 3 or Kia Soul EV. Great product and highly recommend it to my friends looking to switch over to EV lifestyle.

Solid Performer

I love this car. Quiet, smooth, powerful, and with plenty of bells and whistles. Most of all, it's cheap to operate. I'll also mention that range anxiety is a thing, but the car will take care of you. Destination charging is really pretty painless, especially using the Tesla network. Be brave and don't worry! You will be better for getting used to this type of vehicle fueling process.

Nicest Car I've Ever Owned

Love the technology and features on this car. It has the feel of a luxury car at a decent price point. Battery range is decent and it is a comfortable ride. I wish it had a rear window wiper but every other feature is generally well-designed.

The drive experience and UI for infotainment were excellent overall. HUD and heated/cooled seats made this vehicle comfortable to drive during all seasons of the year. My only negatives are due to being an early model that lacks a rear window wiper, and the well known reliability of the ICCU. This engineering failure led to a 3 month wait for repairs. Besides the inconvenience, the actual failure could leave someone in a dangerous situation or stranded far from home. Hopefully this has been addressed by HMG engineering

Works well as an EV but we have had BlueLink software and dealer issue

Although the vehicle has done okay as an EV, we have encountered issues with the BlueLink software and dealer support. The BlueLink software is glitchy when working with digital keys (Hyundai has two different digital key standards). I have also encountered problems when using the BlueLink watch app. The dealer issues involve a dealership that was not responsive when we had an issue with the 12 volt battery not charging. With both the BlueLink issues and dealer issues, Hyundai tried to shift the blame to us instead of fixing the problems which appear common with on line research.

Ioniq 5 Review

I love the car. My issues with it are: (1) the stereo system is not what I would have expected when I paid the price for a limited with its Boze premium system; (2) Occasionally, something fails, like the side rear-view mirrors won't swing out when I unlock the car, or the parking brake won't let go (these only happen once a month or less often); (3) my biggest is the various alerts. The greatest safety feature you can offer is an undistracted driver. And the car will sometimes beep at me for no apparent reason while I am driving, and I have to quickly scan the screens to find out what the message is. There's sometimes no message. You should make a message section on the screens where always, without fail, the driver can find an explanation of the warning noise. Also, the lack of a rear window wiper is actually enough all by itself for us to not want to buy the vehicle at the end of our lease. We live in Oregon, it rains a lot,m and we need that.

ICCU Anxiety

This is the best car I have ever even driven let alone owned. Everything is excellent. But my wife wants to take my son in it to the zoo tomorrow and I am really worried about the ICCU. The faster that Hyundai/Kia comes clean on the issue and provides a fix for this the better. It is the #1 thing you need to be focused on.

Favorite car ever.

Love this quirky-looking car that has great EV range, charges quickly, and drives like a spaceship--fast, smooth, and quiet. Lots of neat features at the Limited trim level.
