Tucson plug-in battery not accepting charge, no time frame on repair

We like the vehicle, but we are currently experiencing mechanical issues with the vehicle. We had one time where the transmission shifting got locked up. We are currently unable to use the plug in capability of our plug in Tucson. They say the part is on order and this comes as we are having to pay high costs for gas due to the Iran war. We have not been given any time frame for out new part.

Love the Ride

I love the comfort and ride! We've been able to drive on the electric charge only most days. The gas savings have been amazing! Really enjoying the car.

2024 Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Review

So far, the vehicle has been extremely reliable, and I haven't noticed any battery degradation. I've driven it less than 4,000 miles, so I don't have a long-term ownership history yet, but my experience has been very positive. One of the biggest advantages is the plug-in hybrid system. Since most of my trips are under 30 miles, I can drive almost entirely on electricity and only need to fill the gas tank about once every three months. The ride comfort isn't quite as good as my previous Hyundai Sonata, but that's to be expected since this is an SUV. Overall, I'm very pleased with the vehicle and would recommend it to anyone whose daily driving fits the plug-in hybrid range.

OUR '24 TUCSON PHEV

It works well for us. we're averaging a little over 80 mpg. we live outside of town, so many of our errands run a bit longer than its 33 mile electric range. I hope Hyundai bumps that up to 50-60 as others have started doing, ir would then be an EV 95% of the time in our hands. About the only quibble is that we find the NAV a bit confusing to navigate, but we get by.

2024 Hyundai Tucson Plug in Hy-brid review

I have been generally very happy with this vehicle, but this past week we a challenge. We had to be towed 150 to Cheyenne Wyoming and 5 days later from Grand Lake Colorado to Denver because of a damaged tire.

Car Designed by attornies!

The car yells at me all the time, to many F-ing alarms, what's with the ever annoying message on startup, it hesitates dangerously when I need to start from a stop, no spare tire, navigation system is worthless, very few places to put small items, dash icons too many and too small, cruise control not adjustable enuff, fan/vent control very cumbersome, AC is under powered, tiny light buttons hidden by the rear seat ceiling handles, key app doesn't work, display needs less display and more knobs.

Hybrid car with electric range

The car drives as a hybrid car with electric range. The car does not feel like an electric car with gas backup. There is little effort to maximize brake regeneration and it is difficult to maximize this feature within the settings, if it is even possible. The electric range is not listed in terms of miles, only a gas-like bar, but the electric range runs out when it reaches ~1/4 of the bar remaining, rather than an empty bar, so you don't know when your electric range is going to run out.

Great buy. Well appointed where it counts. No gremlins.

Great value for a vehicle. The battery/hybrid engine combo is the smartest way to maximize the flexibility of the vehicle. First 31 one of pure battery covers a standard day of running errands. When the hybrid engine kicks in, you can still enjoy 35 mpg and travel anywhere you want to go. With the exception of the giant bus backing sound, there are no real detractors.

Failed vehicle

We really like our PHEV Tucson. The features are nice and it drives well. The problem is we have had the vehicle refuse to start 2 times. We've had the car for about 19 months and it has about 8900 miles, so relatively new and low mileage. The first time was about 9 months into our lease, and we came out to the parking lot and the car would not start, and there was nothing we could do to get it to go. We called, and Triple AAA came. The driver had less luck than we did and ended up towing it to the dealership. It was on a weekend, so he just dropped it off. On Monday I called the dealership and they indicated they would get to the car in order it was received and it might take a day or two. On day 3 (we were without a car), the dealership called and said the car was ready. When I went to pick it up they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it, and they just went out and started it up. Supposedly ran through all the diagnostics and could find nothing. Obviously, we were worried it might happen again. On July 5th of this year, we had been staying at a resort in Park City, Ut. When we checked out and went to leave, the car was completely dead. We could not get it to open, we had to figure out how to work the manual key, and when we finally got the door open, we went through all the things we were supposed to, i.e., putting the key fob next to the starter button, putting our phones on the charging pad. Nothing. Luckily, we were able to get some jumper cables and figure out how to jump the battery. It started, and we were able to drive home. We were ready to call a tow truck and had talked to the front desk about getting a tow truck into the garage. We got an appointment for the following day with the dealership. They ran all the diagnostics, looked at the history, etc., but could find nothing wrong. So, we are stuck worrying about the next time we will be stranded. Very disconcerting. That's why we only give it a 3, Perhaps that is too high. We like the car, but not sure the worry is worth having the car.

Better Than Average Suburban SUV Budget Choice

The Limited Edition of the Tucson provides many things I need, missing just a few like a HUD, ventilated seats, and a more responsive, intuitive voice feature for the GPS. I am in the habit of labeling this the "Poor Man's BMW X3". Outside of the premium vehicles (BMW, Audi, etc) this is the best under 50K SUV I've driven.

2024 Hyundai Tucson PHEV Limited

Overall we have been very pleased with our 2024 PHEV Tucson. It has been reliable, just having just 2 fully covered repairs, one for the A/C and one for onboard charging. The overall build quality including fit & finish is good. I did have higher expectations for the “Limited” package as the carpeting is of average quality, the sound system is not powerful enough and the side mirrors do not fold automatically.
