2024 plug in hybrid Hyundai Tuscon

We bought a 2024 Hyundai Tucson plug in hybrid in January of 2025. It seats four adults comfortably, five with three adults, a child seat, and a teenager. Room for four large suitcases in the rear. Quiet, comfortable, fabulous electronics including the bird's eye view for parking and all the driving aids. 35 MPG on gas only. 31 Miles on charge. About 14 hours to charge to 90% on 110 volts standard plug. We would buy it again. Headlight high beams could be brighter.

Doors to lock automatically when vehicle is vacated. Need a place for sunglasses. Should have wifi access. Too few miles on a charge

Love this SUV

very comfortable to drive, fantastic (effective) gas mileage & looks great. very glad I purchased. I should have purchased the higher level trim. Oh well.

Generally I like this vehicle. There is a hesitation when excelerating from a stop. I really dislike the push button transmission. The charging from household electricity is extremely slow. Takes over 24 hours for a full charge. The is just outrageous. Trickle is right.

poor mileage

I expected more from a hybrid. Loved my Hyundai Ioniq and expected the same from the tuscon. I wanted a car with true hybrid fuel efficiency and the plug in model has not delivered.

Great choice for some drivers

This PHEV is a great choice for drivers with mostly short distances driving, and occasional road trips. I’m averaging about 75mpg.

The car is fine on the road. I don't like when I slow to a stop, then try to accelerate and there is a 2 second hesitation before the electric motor kicks in. If I step on the accelerator too hard it kicks in the engine and revs it up at high speed.

I had engine problems at the beginning, but finally the dealer got those resolved. The car generally is okay, but the technology and its interfaces need work.

Good but could be better

Comfortable. Good to very good quality in most cases, but there are four issues. 1) We had wind noise issues with our previously owned Sonata, and we have the same wind noise issues with the Tucson. 2) My wife is short, and she cannot see directly behind her unless the head restraints are removed from the back seat. The cameras help/are required for her use of the car. 3) Snow/ice buildup can prevent use of cruise control. We do not understand why cruise cannot be used if snow is present on the smart sensors. Why doesn't the system default to a dumb-drive constant velocity like old-time cruise control? Discovering that during a long trip in a recent snowstorm was very frustrating to us. Provide a warning and continue with dumb cruise control is the solution we would prefer. 4. The gas tank is simply too small for long trips. The Toyota RAV4 has a bigger gas tank and better overall performance, it seems. We would have purchased that car instead of the Hyundai Tucson if there had been more headroom in the RAV4. I am tall, and the Hyundai had just enough headroom that I could fit, while I could not fit in the Toyota.

This is not a feature

I like my car for the most part. However, there is a design flaw that causes me great concern. The 12-volt battery that starts the car and powers the electronics dies if I don't use the car for a couple of days. There is no internal reset button for my 2024 model, as there had been in previous models. I need to call roadside assistance to open the car door and start the car. It has happened twice since I've owned it, both times because I was traveling and couldn't drive it every day. This is not a feature; it's a huge, unnecessary headache. What is Hyundai planning to do to fix this post-sale?
