Good Performance Overall

Decided to go with another Hyndai since I owned an elantra for 4 years. The quality of the car maker is good and you get more bang for your buck. This time I was torn between a full electric vs a hybrid. I opted for the Tucson Plugin Hybrid because I wanted to have the luxury of using fuel and electric as options. Fuel is going to be here for awhile. I plan to trade in my car to a full electric probably in 2-3 years.

Awesome SUV

we love everything about the Tucson phev. after 1 year of ownership,we have zero complaints.it's highly stylish, extremely comfortable, it's easy to charge in the garage using a 110 outlet, and is user friendly. I would highly recommend this vehicle.

LOVE

I've had several Hyundais and LOVE this plug in Tucson. Most of my driving is around town so it's rare that I have to gas up but like the ability to take a long trip and not worry with the gas option. The car is stylish and very comfortable.

Thrilled with this vehicle

I considered the Subaru Crosstrek PHEV and the Kia Niro PHEV, both of which only get 17 miles on a full charge battery-only. The Subaru's trunk was microscopic, but the driver's seat extremely comfortable. The Niro was extremely uncomfortable, and also minimal trunk space. The 17 miles on battery is the dealbreaker. I looked at a Lexus, which seemed needlessly expensive for the features. I don't need to pay for a name. The Toyota Rav4 Prime was high on battery only, but felt boxy and clunky to drive. It's just me - I don't have kids to lug around, so it felt unnecessarily large, which if large, should feel luxurious. The Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV was impressive, comfortable and luxurious, with excellent battery-only range, but bigger than I needed for my purposes, which is why the Tucson PHEV fit the bill. I'm petite - the driver seat was fully adjustable to fit my size, and allow to see and reach without cushions. 33 miles per battery charge works with my lifestyle, and HEV mode carries me longer when I need it.

Love it

I love my Tucson Hybrid Plug In very much. Enjoy driving it as well as riding in it as a passenger. Very happy after a year of owning the vehicle and would highly recommend! I appreciate the quiet, smooth and economical/environmentally friendly ride.

You don't know what you don't know

I have driven Hyundai for over 20 years and I will continue. I have never owned a hybrid or electric car before so there was a lot I didn't know, I am learning as I go. In all honesty, I think owning a hybrid vehicle is hyped up more than it actually is. It reduces carbon emissions but I don't want to have to foot the bill for it.

Technology and Power

Overall this is a great technology, bells and whistles vehicle in the premium trim. Acceleration is great, it takes some getting used to the difference in electric and gas mode, but it's a great combination and the power is there when you need it, albeit sometimes a second delayed. I wish they didn't put hard plastic in the seat backs, the headrests should tilt, the cupholders should be larger and the storage in the door panels is basically useless. I had the unfortunate experience of a broken AC expansion valve, 3 attempts to fix it, a month of a rental car, and finally they got 3rd party seals and it's good. Hopefully that's not a normal experience. A major design flaw: Don't buy this car if you live in snowy conditions. There is no resistive element in the windshield and the snow and ice build up under the wipers in about 10-20 minutes depending on conditions. The defrost is just not good enough to keep the windshield clear and the wipers working. Another feature note, you only have 31 miles of battery on a full charge. I hope they increase that in the future and add compatibility for the CCS charging ports. So many now are going that way and if feels like this model is being left in the dust from the plug-in point of view. It's still very much a hybrid, but when you consider as a hybrid you get 38mpg in an SUV, they certainly did something right.

Hyundai takes giant step forward

Owned the PHEV for a year now. We went with the Limited trim because it has the features we wanted compared to other brands at the same price. Very nice ride. Very responsive steering. Most of our driving is in-town, so we hardly ever use the gas. We prefer the PHEV over full EV because we don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with no charging station in site.

Needs improvement

With the hype of going electric and saving money on gas, I caved in and bought a Hyundai plug-in. Overpaid the MSRP which was my fault and it wasn’t worth IMO. First Hyundai bought and more than likely my last. Issues with sensors, software updates tequirements that also affects the sensors alerts, front collision alerts that shouldn’t have been alerts then brakes, engine noise, and many other issues. I’m definitely not a fan. Design exterior is good and interior is good but everything else…average.

Great vehicle tons of features

I chose the PHEV to get some of the benefits of an EV without the range anxiety, happy I did. it has a super quiet smooth ride that's very responsive. Blue Link and all of the safety features are well worth the price.

Nice Car, Great Mileage, Long waits for Service and Some Glitches

Car is comfortable and nicely designed. Power of the ICE engine combined with electric engine is great. PHEV mileage for me is in the 100's, as I can commute only on electric. Had 2 issues in first 4,000 miles-radio screen going dark and more concerning ICE engine started blowing oily smoke. Gas seems to get into the crankcase and if the engine is not run much, it accumulates and thins the oil so it blows by the rings. Both issues addressed with computer updates, but it took a month sitting on the lot before dealer could look at the car. It took 3 weeks to schedule a basic oil change. Wait time for service is disturbing.

Too many trips to the service departments for headlights, transmission, and other incidents

I spent way too much money on this vehicle and actually paid a $5K over suggested retail price due to limited stock. Based on my experience with Hyundai and their dealers to correct a safety hazard with my headlights, (that no one seems to be able to correct), and a transmission that had to be replaced and diminished the value of the vehicle for resale, I will never purchase another Hyundai vehicle.

Tucson PHEV Limited

This is a great looking car with all of the bells and whistles anyone could possibly want in a car. Well maybe aside from self driving. This vehicle is perfect for anyone who wants to go electric but doesn't want to deal with range anxiety. It gets over 30 miles on the battery and then runs like a regular hybrid until you can plug it back in. I purchased a limited so some of this will be specific to that. The leather seats are very comfortable with heating and cooling which both work very well. The safety features are awesome. You would really have to be out to lunch to crash this vehicle. It has all of the cameras, lane departure warnings and collision alerts one would expect. It also tells you if you are drowsy and will even put the car back in the lane if you go outside the lines. I used the AWD and Snow Mode for the first time a few weeks ago and the car handled really well in those conditions. The highway wasn't even plowed yet and I didn't have trouble. The infotainment setup is really nice. Everything was easy to set up and stereo sounds great. I like the tube amp on the screen background when you have the radio on. I've used the Nav a few times. It has a big display which makes it really easy to use. It also warns you about red light cameras which is handy here on Long Island. One of my favorite this is the Panoramic Moon Roof. It opens up for the front and rear rows. My only real complaint is the lack of a spare tire. A lot of car manufacturers are replacing them with a flat kit lately. That's fine if you have a nail, but if you have a blow out on a trip, you'll find yourself in trouble and that little kit won't help you. I'm really happy with this car so far.

I love the look of this vehicle and how easy it is to drive. Many extras are included. The problem with this vehicle is that it does not do well in the desert heat. It will not take a charge when the weather is hot.

Over a year now & no regrets.

The build quality, comfort and ride have been top notch. I'm 6'2" and don't feel cramped at all like some vehicles. The features and controls should suit pretty much anyones needs. Plus a few extras like "Smart Park".

Great Performance

As a commuter, I truly enjoyed the time spent in this vehicle. The gas mileage is very impressive for an SUV. Right now I'm averaging 35 MPG. Not only that, but the safety features have outperformed my expectation.

2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV is the best car I've ever owned!

2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV allows full EV use for most driving (near home), but also provides hybrid system to allow long range driving. The car is highly functional, well designed (features, functionality, usability, interior, exterior), well built, and has a smooth, fun drive.

Almost perfect

Besides the minor issues with Media ports and some notifications on the dashboard this car is perfect. I really love it. aA the end of my lease I would definitely lease another Hyundai Tuscan Hybrid.
