Good technology marred by a few inconveniences
The strength of the Sonata is Hyundai's infotainment and instrument cluster, which is better than competitors and generally even better than apple/google integrations for maps. The vehicle is tuned for fuel efficiency, and in the best conditions it gets 50 mpg.
It behaves like a Prius in driving and struggles to shift until too late in "eco" mode, causing frustration. This is much less noticeable in "smart" mode, however, one has to remember to switch to that mode.
However, the main sour note is the lack of customization and being forced to use Hyundai's standard (default) settings each time one turns it on. The seat heating/ventilation, auto high beams, and drive mode all suffer from this problem. The reminder to keep hands on steering wheel is wildly inaccurate and cannot be turned off. I'm sorry, Hyundai, but a driver not not need to maintain 10 & 2 position on steering wheel, ESPECIALLY when using the excellent lane keeping feature on a highway.
