Think twice

Not well built, clunky, little things not tight, horrible customer service, not well informed about the workings of the car. More complicated than useful. Rear seats very difficult to raise and drop. Tires seem cheap.

Great car, bad service and reliability

Our Ioniq 5 is a great car, but a critical battery error at 3500 miles makes me question long term reliability. Dealership response on fix is nonexistent and has to be escalated to Hyundai corporate.

Best car I have driven!

I was concerned with moving on from my Volvo XC90 car manages to carry a massive amount. Silent running. Virtually no maintenance. I especially love the app that lets me schedule cabin preheat during cold weather months. Honestly the best car I have ever driven.

Amazing vehicle, so close to perfection

For my first EV, and first Hyundai product, I really have been impressed and very satisfied with my Ioniq 5 XRT since day 1. It's practical, comfy, spacious, has adequate range, good array of creature comforts and features, cool unique styling, plenty quick for a daily driver, it ticks a lot of boxes. There's only been some minor tweaks I've noticed that are holding it back from being a perfect vehicle in my eyes. First, with the identity of this car being a rally/offroad inspired trim, there are areas that can be improved to better compete with rally themed EV competitors from a performance aspect. For example, the power distribution in all cases is too FWD biased and it understeers when driven hard. With the software in the I5N to choose the power distribution, this thing would be an absolute riot and great in offroad dirt/snow environments and meet the looks of the car. More can be done with drive modes, specifically My Mode. Let us dial in the power delivery, steering feel, traction control, and gauge appearance, give us the simulated gearing and paddle shifting, and let it save those settings to My Mode or Sport modeso thst people that dont care to use it don'teven know it exists. I understand reserving this for the I5/6N, but for my needs of this car, I dont want a lowered harsh riding performance car, I want the higher ground clearance, AT tires, but with some of these performance features. Next, I still hate the profile delay when getting into the vehicle before the infotainment responds. I drive the car 90% of the time, I would rather it default quickly to last used instead of manually selecting my profile or waiting 10 (excruciating) seconds for my profile to become active. With the profiles, I wish seat and mirror memory was included. I dont love the Auto-high beam functionality. I have to manually turn on Auto Brights everytime I drive, and I think i still end up brighting oncoming cars until they get closer. Next one doesnt affect the vehicle negatively, I just think it would be cool to program some light show functions into the cool headlights and taillights, would be a cool party trick. Overall this is a great vehicle and I would consider buying it out when my lease is up or get another one, but with some added features and a full embracing of the offroad rally identity, this vehicle would be perfect!

2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Limited AWD is truly excellent!

I have had the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Limited AWD for 3800 miles and around 100 days. It is truly an exquisite vehicle. It is missing very few features that are mostly quality of life. However, daily driving and the tech-forward offerings are excellent. The new CCNC infotainment looks great and works when needed; wireless Android Auto takes care of most daily functions.

America not ready for EVs.

We have this big, beautiful car and we can only drive it around town and charge it at home. When we try to charge it publicly, either the charger is down, the wifi is out or many other issues. We are 80 years old and we cannot be stuck somewhere on a trip with the Ioniq. Luckily, we have had to keep the Tucson for trips. At this age, we wanted to go down to one car (my husband has Parkinson's so may not be driving much longer), but we can't with the Ioniq 5. We have family in VA, KY, and PA. We cannot visit them with the Ioniq. Unfortunately, we are in a lease so we are stuck for 3 years.

Awesome value

I really love the vehicle, the control, comfort, safety and fuel savings it provides. I believe it is the perfect vehicle for our family and we are so grateful to have it. I am worried about ICCU and other failures that come because of how Hyundai seems to be handling things less proactively and transparently.

Performs Great. However ive only owned the car for a couple of months

I love my car. Being in my 70's its nice to know that the car warns me of danger when on the freeway or city driving. It keeps me alert to the vehicles around me and especially their unpredictable driving habits. I especially love how quiet the driving experience is. The only complaint I have about that is I can hear all the cars around me and their grinding engines.

Pretty good car, bad app

The car itself is great. Handles well, fairly comfortable, although not as much as my other older car. I hate that the app requires me to share my precise geolocation, personal biometric data, and other data including my email address, social security number (!), address, and other identifiers at all times in order to be able to use basic features. This is a major privacy violation. What is Hyundai going to do when they inevitably get hacked and all my personal information ends up being sold to scammers and criminals? I can't even log in without accepting this privacy encroachment, which I really do not want to do, and this eliminates a lot of the car's features, such as remote start. Really bad decision by Hyundai that actively detracts from the experience of having the car.

Great car overall.

The car is very good. Pick up and dependability is very good. My only issue is getting some explanations. Small things like how do you get the light to come on in the cabin when you open the door. How do you use cruise control for just speed control and not all the other elements of control that come with it. It is small aggravating things that are my issue. The meat and potatoes of the car are all good.

Redesign the ICCU now

Hyundai comes so close but can't get it over the finish line. Your ICCU defect has a four year history and there is still no indication you intend to redesign it as you must. Leaving your customers at risk of a car failure at night, miles from nowhere with kids in tow, betrays a disregard for your customers' safety and well-being that prevents me from purchasing a Hyundai in the future. A Good Vehicle But Several Features Need Improvement

The driving experience is mostly good, but Hyundai hasn't thought through several features. First, the entertainment system is somewhat annoying. If you want to view the stations (i.e. AM, FM, SiriusXM) that you've selected as "Favorites", you have to use at least two different button presses in order to see them. One of these button presses is on the central touch screen and means taking your eyes off the road in order to press it. It would be much better and safer to have the screen return to its last used setting at each start-up. It should be added to each driver's profile. Another fix would be to add "Favorites" as one of the choices for the programmable button on the steering wheel. Another annoyance concerning the audio system is the omission of an aux input. If you have music or other content that's not on a smart phone or a USB drive, you're out of luck. The only way to play content from a device like an iPod Classic is to use an FM transmitter and that's inconvenient, of lesser quality, and trouble prone if you are on a long trip. Another problem that needs to be addressed is the "Driver Attention Warning" (DAW) system. The camera that is mounted on the steering column and focuses on the driver's eyes to make sure they are not closed or wandering from concentrating on the road ahead doesn't work properly when the driver is wearing sunglasses. So, on a bright day, the car frequently sounds a chime and puts up a visual warning saying that you are not paying proper attention. This can be incredibly annoying on a long sunny drive. What's even more frustrating is that this warning cannot be permanently turned off. If you utilize the Smart Cruise Control (SSC) or Highway Driving Assist (HDA), the feature (DAW), after being disabled, turns back on automatically! Another software correctable issue concerns setting the regenerative braking level. No matter which setting you choose during your drive, the regenerative braking level returns to the default setting (Level 1) the next time you start the car. Why can't this setting also be saved in a particular driver's profile? Another feature that I feel wasn't thought out well is the automatic liftgate. When enabled, if have the key fob with you and stand at the liftgate for 5 seconds, it will open automatically. So, if you have your hands full and you have the patience to wait for the liftgate to open on a cold or rainy night, that feature might be useful. However, after you place your items in the back of the car, you can't just open the door and get in. You must use the key fob to unlock the doors. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind this. Maybe Hyundai has some safety concern in mind? Whatever the reason, unlocking the doors when the auto liftgate function is enabled should be an option that is configurable in the vehicle settings.
