Great to drive, lots of EV issues

The car has a fun sporty feel to it. However I've had 2 significant problems with the EV aspects. The ICCU went out and had to be replaced. And now the EV battery stopped working and needs to be replaced. Getting the ICCU replaced took 1 month. I'm in the middle of the EV battery replacement and it is 2 months and counting.

2 yrs 50k Love this car

Of the more than 35 cars I have owned over the years the ‘24 Hyundai Ioniq 5 tops the list as my #1 favorite replacing the #2 96’ Toyota Supra. And #3 ‘77 Dodge Volare. It is fun to drive very fast and handles very well. The only complaint I have with mine is the center console setup and lack of rear wiper which both were updated in the ‘25 model

Not having wireless Apple play is bananas

Car is great overall, but having to connect apply play with a wire is silly and not modern. This should be a standard feature, especially in a well equipped car.

The Worst Car Ownership Experience of My Life

I had one good month with this vehicle. Since then it's been over two years of issues and Hyundai wasting my time. The issues started with a bad ICCU, and that has damaged the 12 volt battery and the main carriage battery. ICCU and 12v battery have been replaced. Main carriage battery is still not working properly but Hyundai techs can't figure out why I've lost 100 miles of range in two years. All they do is plug it in to diagnostics, and then say its coming back with no error codes and send me on my way. Right now you can't even get a loaner vehicle at the dealerships that are near me for over a month. Meaning they have more long term vehicles being looked at right now than they can accommodate, and are having to turn people away for service. Do yourself a favor and run as far away from Hyundai/Genesis. I would not wish this experience upon my worst enemy, and I'm counting down the days until I no longer have to deal with this vehicle. I wish I still had my old Honda Civic instead of this $60k piece of junk.

High Value for the Money

I am delighted with this well engineered vehicle. Easy to charge, fun to drive and economical. I do find the seat position changes unreliable as we have two drivers.

My Review

Overall the car is decent, the value of the car outweighs it's negatives if you got it for a good deal. I'm glad I got it on a lease, I've had quite a few issues already and have only had the car for less than 2 years. You get what you pay for is the best way to describe this vehicle.

A Fun Ride With A Couple Of Very Annoying Features

The Ioniq 5 is a sporty car with a comfortable ride. It has handled well in all kinds of weather and has a good range. However, it doesn't have a rear window wiper, so you can't see anything behind you in the rain. It doesn't remember to display the road map half the time you start up, and the speed display isn't easy to see on the main dash. Finally,It doesn't hold your lumbar support setting, so you have to reset it every time you drive. If these issues were addressed it would be my perfect vehicle!

Great for around town and short trips. Very comfortable

Range is limited to under 275 miles. Only a few charging stations in our area. Very comfortable and quick Built extremely well with no issues in 30,000 miles.

Love the safety features, and appreciate the warranty.

Love my EV and apprecieate having the warranty as it came in handy. I had a "no go" maitnance issue with the battery. I used the app to have it towed to the dealership and my warranty covered it all. I was back on the road within a couple of days. I was very pleased with the services provided. Overall I love this car but get frusturated with the turning radius and lack of windshield wipers in the back. I also feel the sensors could use some fine tuning. For example it will alarm for proximaty when you have something in front of you in the garage, but you are in reverse and backing out. I wish it was smarter and knew by being in reverse I'm not going to hit the object in front of me.

I love it and hate it more

Love the styling. Love the looks, hate the range, and Hyundai Lies. rated 260, never got above 150, been to the dealer more times than any other car i have ever owned, and NEVER fixed. warranty items cost me out of pocket? battery lost 14% in one year. Dealer "unable to replicate" ICCU issues, recalls and too many hassles. yes it looks great, but save your money and go buy a Tesla, I was going to and i now wish i would have. ( i will when this pos is paid off)
