A great car

I love the car. It rides well and is sturdy and roomy.My negatives are that the wipers are not great. The back window does not have a wiper. The car gets cold if the vents are open, even if the AC/heat are not turned on.

The car rides like it is on wooden wheels. You feel every slight imperfection in the road and potholes sound like the entire suspension has bottomed out. Also the push buttons on the dashboard no longer work. not a single one. The car has only 6000 miles on it. I will neve buy another one and probably won't every buy any Hyundai again. Also the gear shift is not safe. Seats especially the driver's seat is not ergonomic. It feels like I am sitting in a hole.

Good car with some significant drawbacks

The car is great in a lot of ways. Winter battery life is well below expectations. Also constant short distance driving prevents battery recharging and has left me need a new battery and tow.

Best EV Available

Great performing car, very happy with the EV technology. 1 star deducted for the behind-the-curve infotainment. Very disappointed that they used an infotainment system thats basically 5 years old tech wise, and they upgraded it the next year to be modern, and this older one doesnt get any feature upgrades. 1 Year old car with no infotainment software updates is absolutely horrible. The rest of the car makes up for it.

Very Nice EV

We have enjoyed driving this vehicle. The control panel is good, except the temperature gauge which isn’t convenient. We should be able to change the temperature and blower position without clicking on “Climate” each time. This is too distracting while driving. When backing up the vehicle, the view out the passenger windows isn’t as encompassing as it should be, and visibility is not as good. The backup camera view is OK but the window view backing from the driver’s seat to the passenger side, isn’t as good as it could be. We have installed solar panels and batteries so are not paying for electricity, even though the setup was very expensive. About charging, it is somewhat difficult to find charging units that are operational while on long trips. The charging station locator is good, but we often find the units are broken down for some reason!

Love this car!

Good Deal, Small Annoying Issues

Overall a great deal. The efficiency is great, it’s comfortable and drives well. Road noise is minimal at highway speeds. It’s very roomy on the inside as well. Very fun to drive. However, the trunk rattles, my center console rattles, and the sound system is one of the worst I’ve experienced in a vehicle. The headlights are okay but not great. Preconditioning the battery before charging requires you to put it in the navigation which is a pain too. Some small fixes would go a long way with the Ioniq 5.

Get lots of looks driving it. Why no Apple Play. Seats are not comfortable. Hatch still rattles even after taking it to dealer twice. Cannot adjust arm rest to my liking. Turning radius is lousy.

5 Stars For My Hyundai Ioniq 5

This is a good car for the price. I leased the Hyundai Ioniq 5 for $300 a month for 2 years. Plus free charging. Best deal ever! Good car and no problems at all. Super fast, super comfy, very safe, has great safety precautions, alarms, and has decent mileage. 300 max miles to a 100% charge.

Poorly designed dashboard control panels. Smooth EV ride.

After studying climate science at university and reading Laudato Si (Pope Francis), I was convinced it was time to get my first full EV. I'm glad I did. I love the EV aspect of the Ioniq 5 and bypassing every gas station, but a big frustration is the poorly designed dashboard. Overall, we've gone overboard with the degree to which we rely on touchscreens. Automakers need to bring back more knobs, buttons, and switches. On this car, it's incredibly odd that some necessary features seem to be touch controls (eg, climate, seat warmer) and others seem to be buttons (media). Make the MOST COMMONLY USED ALL BUTTONS - and maybe duplicate them as touch controls (or touch screen) as well. There isn't clear organization of the dashboard or steering wheel control by function. It seems like you just tried to squeeze it all in without much thought of layout. As mentioned earlier, there are buttons (albeit the type that only minimally depress therefore giving less muscle-memory training to the body, important in ergonomic design, yet still infinitely better than touch-only controls) and then the row right above them are touch-only controls. Make them all buttons. Among other Ioniq 5 drivers, I've heard the poor layout of the controls as a common complaint - sometimes the only complaint.
