Nice car but could be improved.

Overall I have really enjoyed my Ioniq 5 but the software needs work. The car should know when it is in its own garage and not send you unnecessary notifications. When you walk away from the car it should lock itself. The screen interface is not as intuitive as I would like.

Beyond expectations

Our ionic five has been everything that we hoped it would be, and more. The range is well over the 318 miles advertised, and we are averaging better than 4 miles per kilowatt hour. The comfort, quietness, and smoothness of ride is the quality of a much more expensive vehicle. Charging times have lived up to expectations.

I’m in love with electric

The Ioniq5 has been such a fun car to drive. It is responsive and quick, comfortable, and best of all it’s been a blast to drive by the gas stations as gas prices soar. I do wish you could disable lane assist and it was easier to see the temperature controls on the screen on a sunny day, but otherwise it is a great car.

Awesome Vehicle

I love this car! The electric element is a great feature especially with gas prices being through the roof. It drives like a dream and loves all the bells and whistles.

Battery broke within a month

This is a great car to drive... when it drives. After 1k miles the battery gave out and it just spent almost a month in the shop getting fixed. The repair bill would have been over $30k if it wasn't under warranty! Apparently this is a systemic issue with Hyundai electric cars and there's a huge class action lawsuit against Hyundai that just started recently.

The 2026 upgraded IONIQ 5 is awesome!

After driving the 2022 IONIQ 5 for 3 years, we switched to a 2025 IONIQ 6 for one year... then upgraded to the 2026 IONIQ 5. The vehicle is spacious, comfortable, and very responsive. Good roomy rear seating for 3 full size adults, storage space is adequate for weekend travel and runs to the local hardware store. Excellent safety features, large dual software screens, and beautiful interior appointments.

Some good Some bad

I am having a really tough time using the computer systems to make the car drive the way I want it to drive. I am sorry that I did not pick up the vehicle myself for delivery and insist that I get a salesman to set up all the options while I watched. The other thing that will need attention sometime is that Consumer Reports that some of the 2026 Ioniq 5 vehicles lose power while driving. It is not just the Ioniq 5, there several other brands, including Cadillac that experience the same. I believe that the trouble is due to some component, common to many EV Brands and models. I am waiting for the recall notice. I got the "I told you so" look from my wife when she read the article. This is not making my life any easier now.

Great car, some software bugs

Overall the car performs very well. Spacious, smooth and quiet. Range is inline with what's advertised. There are several software bugs. The home screen and UI in general are not very user friendly.

Comfortable Electric Car

I like the responsiveness of the electric motors to the application of the accelerator pedal in order to merge or pass or accelerate from a stop. The driver's seat is comfortable. I wish that the storage box under the hood and the storage box under the way-back deck had more volume to carry recharge accessories and tire pump as well as some personal items for weather changes during a trip. The storage between the front seats is difficult to easily use while driving and wanting to change glasses or to use while stopped something stored in the lower shelf like a pen or flashlight.

Great EV for the price

I am 1,200 miles into my ownership of the 2026 Ioniq 5 SEL and so far I am satisfied. It is the best value hatchback/crossover EV on the market right now. With a few tweaks it would be spectacular.

Nice car with some flaws

Overall I like my Ioniq 5, but it does have some flaws. The range is not even close to what it’s rated, regardless of how I drive the car. The charging speed, no matter whether I use Tesla or Electrify America, is slower than the Ioniq 6 I had prior. The wireless charger makes my phone so hot that it disconnects my phone from Apple CarPlay, plus my phone gives me an overheating message. My Ioniq 6 never had this issue. Please stop using piano black materials. It looks great initially, but shows everything (dirt, dust, fingerprints, etc). The materials on the door panels show dirt and fingerprints and is not too easy to clean.

Ioniq 5 is an excellent value proposition & worth a serious look

I bought my 2026 Ioniq 5 Limited in March, and have been pretty happy with it. I appreciate the overall package, but especially in its core aspects as a compact family SUV that focuses on comfort and safety. It is excellent in its core aspects such as its range & charging speed and offers some extras that are rare & very useful such as the ability to optionally use a digital rear view mirror. I generally enjoy driving this car around and haven't had any major issues that couldn't be addressed with a software update or other modifications on my end. The Limited is not a car that you'd sling around/drive overly aggressively in due to the bodyroll, but is definitely for those looking for a more practical vehicle that can transport/carry things around and save money/time doing so over most options.
