Great EV with some unexpected consequences.

I love my car. It is so fun drive! However, there are two main concerns I currently have. First, the windshield wiper sensors are not very reliable. I find myself constantly adjusting the intermittent wipe rate. I live in the Northwest U.S., where it rains frequently, and the sensors often seem confused about how much water is actually on the windshield. At times, there may be only a moderate sprinkle, so I set the wipers accordingly, but they will suddenly switch to the highest speed for no apparent reason. This forces me to turn them back down. It is a bit annoying, and I also worry that this inconsistent behavior could prematurely wear out the wiper motors. The sensors also appear to struggle with detecting water droplets at night. The second issue I experienced was more serious and somewhat alarming. The underside of the car has panels made of a stiff, felt-like material that help protect the EV battery. These panels are bolted to the bottom of the vehicle. With fewer than 1,000 miles on the odometer, the panel on the front passenger side came loose and could be heard striking the underside of the car at freeway speeds. The dealership I leased the car from agreed to cover the repair after I contacted them, but it was definitely unexpected for a brand-new vehicle. Also, I wish Hyundai had not chosen to change the wheel design from 2024 to 2025 as I preferred those wheels, and feel the handling and acceleration performance of the Limited trim could be enhanced with lighter wheels.

Great car for commuting and getting around town

We are on our third electric car and this one is great. Great ride with excellent acceleration and handling. Ours is fully decked out with the latest tech. I know we don't even use 10% of it, but we like the adaptive cruise control, lane assist, parking assist with bird's eye view and heads up display. Android auto is easy and the navigation system is very easy to use as well. The care is incredibly quiet and rides true versus too sporty or too cushy. Charging is easy even with the level 1 or level 2. We haven't needed a level 3 charge in about 5 months.

Great car to drive, unfortunate major failure

I love this car. I love driving it, sitting in it listening to music, and even just seeing it in my garage. But then a mysterious "Check Electric Vehicle System" and you're suddenly stranded for hours and without a car for a week.

12V Battery Failure After Failure

I've leased my Ioniq 5 since September and it has been in the dealership about half of the three months that I've had it. The 12V battery dies and then the car has to be jumped. I've jumped this car about 20 times. I've driven for about 30 years and jumped a car twice in that time. Apparently the ICCU is bad but diagnosing it and replacing it is taking months.

I love her more than my family.

My Ioniq 5 is practically perfect in every way. Being able to store my purse where you normally find a console (due to the sliding center console), all the custom app features, only stopping at gas stations for road snacks, how roomy the interior is, all the safty features, android auto (Hey Google does try to ruin this feature but it is more lovely than frustrating), and the nice things the screen says to me before and after work.

2025 Ioniq 5

Love the car but unhappy with the longer trips. I thought that the Tesla chargers would all work with the ca- they do not. The battery starts to warm up too early for the % I set and even when it is on time, charging time to 80% is longer than 20 min.also to maximize mileage , I need to drive under 70 log with heat off. Kind of takes the fun out of highway driving. Love the car around town and all the features. Front seat not as comfortable after sitting for awhile. Poor dealer supporting my charging complaints

Good electric car for the money

Good car, nice to drive and efficient at lower speeds. Not the best at handling higher (50+) speeds, the braking needs to be reworked, and the rear occupant seatbelt alarm needs to the option to be disabled

Excellent Vehicle. Could use some improvement in Software and Features

The actual car is excellent. We have loved having it. The build quality is higher than other EVs that we have been in that are a similar price range. It is very enjoyable to drive. Very easy to change drive modes. We love the physical buttons that exist to make it easy to change different things. Heads Up Display is awesome and super helpful. There is lots of interior space in the front and back seating areas. The driver assist features on the highway have worked splendidly. I'd like for the areas that can be used to be expanded. It would be nice if the highway efficiency didn't go down as much as it does from city driving. The software and features could be improved. Software should be updated more often and have an easier way to suggest features or report problems to Hyundai so the software can be improved. There are multiple roads that we regularly travel that the system says are one way but have been converted to two way streets over 3 years ago and I'm not sure how to let Hyundai know about that. It can be difficult to find a setting or controls within the software. Luckily CarPlay is in it, so we enjoy using that. There should be an option to automatically lock the car when walking away from it. The BlueLink app only allows 1 person to see a lot of data points within it without having the option to share everything with another driver, there should be a way for 2 people to see all the data. It should be easier to export and look at historical charging and trip information within the BlueLink app. I often have trouble taking the charging cable out of the port unless I lock and unlock the doors again despite following the instructions. Despite the areas of opportunity for improvement, we really enjoy the car.

Surprisingly fun

This is my first new vehicle. I wasn't sure I'd enjoy an electric carry add much as I have. No more gasoline, oil changes, or spark plugs-- what!? It's got some power too. I really love driving my Ioniq 5.

A Good Value for a Lease

I leased this car after driving many electric cars. It's generally very good. The only disadvantage is it corners worse than a truck. I have to three point turn going in and out of parking spots, it's almost impossible to U turn in, even with three lanes, with two lanes you may have to do a 3 point turn as well. Other than that I'm satisfied, I'm glad I leased it rathe than buying.

Think twice

Not well built, clunky, little things not tight, horrible customer service, not well informed about the workings of the car. More complicated than useful. Rear seats very difficult to raise and drop. Tires seem cheap.

Great car, bad service and reliability

Our Ioniq 5 is a great car, but a critical battery error at 3500 miles makes me question long term reliability. Dealership response on fix is nonexistent and has to be escalated to Hyundai corporate.

Best car I have driven!

I was concerned with moving on from my Volvo XC90 car manages to carry a massive amount. Silent running. Virtually no maintenance. I especially love the app that lets me schedule cabin preheat during cold weather months. Honestly the best car I have ever driven.
