Please Do Not Purchase an Ioniq 5!

If you are thinking of buying an electric vehicle... look somewhere else! This car looks great, but is a literal ticking time bomb waiting to die on you. Check online, there are multiple reports every single day of new and almost new Ioniq 5's breaking down with no warning. This happened to me while on a highway with my whole family in the car. Incredibly dangerous and scary for all of us. And then - it took 2 months to get it fixed, and during that time the response from the dealership was TERRIBLE. No updates, no information. Please... look somewhere else for your electric vehicle.

You get a lot of car for the price point.

This car drives and feels like higher end car than the price point would tell you. Easy to charge and the pick up speed is amazing. Drives extremely smoothly and is very quiet. Feels super roomy inside and has great visibility.

Great vehicle but with Power issues

The Ioniq 5 is a great car to drive for comfort and performance. However, experiencing a power failure and replacement of the ICCU and 12 V battery forces me to choose another vehicle for long trips.

Easily the best driving car I’ve ever owned.

Like I said. It drives great, it’s very smooth. I love the instant torque from electric motors. The only thing I don’t love is o think eco mode has the smoothest driving, it I wish AWD lasted at higher speeds for that. An in between that plowed the AWD to be fully unlocked in eco would be great because for stop and go traffic like dirigible on large roads sport mode feels to jerky.

13 month review of 2025 Ioniq 5

very happy but concerned. currently in the shop to replace the main battery after 16000 miles and 13 months. Sure it's covered by warranty but will be having to pay for gasoline for a month.

Absolutely love driving it! Very responsive, comfortable seats, improvements for buttons for seat heating are great! And having the rear windshield wiper is a huge bonus, compared to the 2023. NOT liking the black interior, which shows every fingerprint, dust, etc. Not a big fan of the pop out exterior handles

This was my first EV. range anxiety is non existent at this point. My ioniq 5 was probably the besr decision I could have made.

Great other than impossible to read AC and vent display

Love the car. The display for Ac, heat, vent flow etc is impossible to read, especially in daytime

Fix the charging system!

I was all good and fun untill ICCU died. Now car is at the dealer for a month and they do not have an estimate when it going to be fixed.

Powerful and Roomy

The Ioniq 5's acceleration is exhilarating. I can't believe how much I can load into this mid-sized vehicle when I have to. The only problems are the lack of a spare tire (not a problem until it actually is....) and the looming specter of a 12 volt or ICCU battery management failure. We have multiple Hyundai's in our extended family. Hyundai has the best warranty in the business, and it is likely you are going to need it. Annoying repetitive fails include multiple horn replacements and other electrical issues. All in all, still highly recommend.
