My 2026 HI5

I love the 2026 Ioniq 5. However I’m frustrated with plug&charge - it’s not working and your support team doesn’t seem to have a solution.

Almost an Excellent Car

There are a bunch of small issues with the car and the ICCU issue, which looms over every one: - Starter battery died - Backup camera crooked - Rear trunk rattle - Turning radius surprisingly large - App is subscription and not great, takes a while to connect - Windshield wiper spray is way too powerful - it sprays cars on all sides - No rear wiper in 2024 models - Have to manually switch on i-Pedal (one-pedal drive) every time you change gears - Have to manually turn the car off - Can't turn the car off via the app if you forget, can't lock the car if it's still on. It should just do that itself - Range is only OK - Charging speed is only ok - 2024 models have terrible pre-conditioning UX - No manual "stop charging and release the cable" button, and no way I could see to do it in the car. The only reliable way I've found is to use the app. I'm sure there are other things I've forgotten. It doesn't seem like they really understand EVs or do user experience research on how to make them usable.

Not the way to treat a customer

we owned the car for a year and a half with no problems. November 19 of 2025 we had to take car for service because of battery issue. A week later we were told a new battery was needed. The dealership was very unresponsive and for the longest time did not seem to give a sh**. We got the car back after FIVE months of waiting and little or no knowledge of when we would get a new battery. To Hyundai s credit we were provided a loaner and free gas. After getting the car back wehad to take it back to service three times the first week for various issues. The dealership has been much more helpful of late. Two stars is too generous, it should be one or none. Lorrie Dellinger. I would welcome a conversation with a Hyundai big shot.

Reliable like no car I’ve ever owned. I’m 75 years old +.

Remarkably reliable. In three years I’ve replaced a tire and a twelve volt battery, some front wipers. That’s it. EV range estimates usually bad, must use your own estimates born from experience. Not a good thing for sure because of range fear always there with EVs .

Ioniq 5 Limited User experience

This is my first EV and replaces an Audi A8 4.0T. It has as much power and room as the Audi. Not quite as plush a ride but close. Interior is much more airy and roomy. Driving experience is sublime, including creamy power delivery, absence of noise, excellent ride quality, excellent road handling, good sound system, holds 2 car seats easily. I now have my second Ioniq 5 (2026) and it corrects the few nits I had about the 2024.

Drives well in all road conditions

Perfect for city and highway driving and long road trips. Inside comfort and spacious. Great camera views for assistance. Helpful onscreen apps. You can speak to the car and tell it where you want to go! Car info synchs well with your phone. Has many more features than I have learned of yet. Major downfall is lack of rear window wipers. Much needed due to dark tint and dust.

Great car!

Our Ioniq 5 is our "second" car and is used primarily for trips of under 75 miles. We charge it overnight at home when needed. We love not going to gas stations, the minimum maintenance needed, its performance and comfort.

Hyudai Ioniq 5 Surprise

Was at a Nissan dealership looking at the Ariya EV when the salesman invited me to test a (trade in?) Ioniq5 in their lot. I was reluctant because I'd never had a Korean car and the external box shape did not appeal to me. I was aurprised at the range, roominess & acceleration after driving it. It became the EV I wanted and I haven't regretted it. And it seems to charge faster than the other cars at the parking station. I like the rims because they don't stain easily and are easy to clean for one who washes own car. My dislikes include the screens where certain functions are not intuitive. How about having a screen that that does not stick up so high and may be adjustbale to individual driver? The audio seems to be of poor quality and subject to interference. The worst is the handling which could be due to the tire brand (Michelin, Continental was the solution in my previous car) and / or the safety sensors in the car. FInally I'm surprised there's no rear windshield wiper though it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Too many issues

I would not recommend this vehicle. I have am leasing this and have had it in more for service than any other vehicle that I have had.

Great car

This is a fabulous car to drive. I love the knobs for volume on radio, and easy access to climate control. Great space inside. Sleek looking. Decent battery range. Would like it to be a little longer, though.

Great entry into the electric market.

Good solid electric SUV. I've only had an issue with the 12v battery and the horn being defective. Other than that smooth sailing and an overall enjoyable ride. Good tech (except no android auto wireless) and overall a good responsive interface. Very fast DC supercharging which makes for a pleasant recharging atmosphere when making longer trips.
