Major damage from unanticipated acceleration

Generally an excellent vehicle except for a sudden unanticipated acceleration on parallel parking which resulted in over $5000 frontal damage and a marked increase in my auto insurance.

Nearly perfect

Nearly flawless design. The only cons were rectified in the 2025 model a year later. Though, as always, longer range would be appreciated but not expected until solid state battery tech catches up.

GREAT for small families

So spacious and thoughtfully designed on the inside, with lots of trunk space, while driving like a sedan! I love the safety features and back up camera, and best of all my two kids' car seats fit comfortable in the back seats without compromising the driver and front passenger seats' abilities to recline. The ONLY issue that would keep me from driving this car forever, is there are only AC vents in the front of the vehicle and not in the back.

Best Small EUV-EV On the Market

1. Luxury EV experience without Luxury price. 2. Everything I need, nothing I don't. 3. Only item on wish list is to increase battery range by at least 25%, to a "realistic 325 miles per charge.

Love this car

I love having an all electric vehicle. I can just plug it in when I get home and I’m ready to go the next day. Does take a couple of days to get back to a full charge if I’ve gotten more than 50 or 60 but miles I just love this car. Also love the free charging When I take a long trip I can charge up in a reasonable amount of time for the trip home. Also the safety features are great. I’m 86 so all the warning bells are great. Also like the deceleration when I take my foot off the “gas” pedal. Just love this car

I LOVE this car

I am not a big car person, but when I decided to buy an electric car, the Hyundai reviews were too good to overlook! And I got the added benefit of not putting a dime in the pocket of Elon Musk, which also made me very pleased!!!

It’s a very nice EV. But short on distance

Hyundai makes very good cars. The IONIQ 5 rides steady, good response in handling to give a comfortable driving experience. It would be better if it has a bigger battery to have longer range. The charging speed is quicker than most EV in the market which is a good advantage.

It’s an “ok” with lack of features for the $$

It’s an “ok” car. I will not buy it at the end of the lease. Weird body/suspension noises, 12v battery issues, awful highway range, lack of features in the app, infotainment shirt comings, poor audio/speak quality, no proximity locks, no rear wiper, no rear cup holders, just too much $$ for the missing features that it should have. A swing and a miss from Hyundai.

As close to perfect as a car could be — before a glaring exception

Three months ago, I would have given the vehicle a five-star rating. There were minor flaws, such as the lack of a rear windshield wiper and the need to use a cable for CarPlay connectivity. (Of course, both of those imperfections have been remedied by the 2025 model.) But then the car’s main battery died, just 10 months into my lease. The vehicle has now been at the dealership for exactly three months awaiting a replacement battery, which is still on backorder after all this time.

Mixed Review

The Ioniq 5 is comfortable and pleasant to drive. It’s not a sports car by any means, but it definitely has the power you need, whenever you need it. On the whole, traveling long distances is okay, with chargers found frequently enough along the I 95 and 90 corridors. In the rural areas, good luck finding a high speed charger. We charge at home, and can usually go about a week between charges. Unfortunately, the climate system makes a high pitch buzz which hasn’t yet been fixed, and the car was in the dealers service department for 6 weeks because of a bad drive motor. Hyundai fixed the under the warranty and we were given a loaner, but that’s a long time for diagnosing and fixing the problem. Not yet sure if I’d buy another Hyundai product.

I am very happy with my 2024 Ionic 5. A few things I would like to point out and have noticed these were addressed in the 2025 model. No rear wiper. A big one is not seat warmers with remote start. No roof rails. I hate the idea of clamping roof racks to the vehicle body. Mine actually came off in the car wash. No Rear seat warmers The 2025 model doesn't seem to have any wheel choices. No wireless car play.

Good EV with some electronic issues

Promised NACS adapter has not been provided. Continual issues with Android auto. Failed USB port that is the only connection to display screen. Still awaiting that repair. Wind noise in the roof is still present & rather annoying. The dealership investigated the noise & drove comparably equipped ioniq 5 vehicles & all had the same issues: *not* something that speaks well of your vehicle quality.
