Great EV, but comfort and convenience features could be better

We love our 2024 Ioniq 5. The performance and reliability have been perfect, and with a home charger installed, the cost to charge the car is far less than what we would be paying for a gas vehicle. With that said, I have a number of nitpicks that could be improved about the comfort and convenience features: 1. No rear windshield wiper - this was fixed in the 2025 model 2. Have to pay for a higher trim to get seat memory for the driver's seat - competitor's vehicles (Honda for example) offer this as standard on the mid-level trim. 3. Rear air vents are on the floor and don't do a great job of cooling the back seat when it's really hot. 4. There is apparently no way to set all doors to unlock when opening the driver door or automatically unlock when the vehicle is turned off (as opposed to shifted to park). 5. The wireless charger on the bottom of the center console is basically useless - this was also fixed in the 2025 model. 6. No wireless carplay - this was also fixed in the 2025 model. For the 2024 model, the only option was a 3rd party product that very annoyingly randomly connects my phone's wifi to the car while it is off and parked in the garage.

My first electric car

Extremely comfortable and easy to drive with great pick up when needed. I do wish it had a rear window wiper.

Tremendous fun

Such a unique and fun vehicle. Hyundai is a great company and people should just buy Hyundai products. No need for any other car company.

Fantastic car

I think most of these have been addressed in the newer versions. Physical buttons for seat heaters would be awesome roof rails would be awesome. A faster boot up time on the infotainment system would be great. A smarter charging port that doesn’t automatically close down on the DC cap would be nice. Power windows on all trim levels for all four windows is a must.

Fun; couple of important things to consider

I've enjoyed this car a lot but there are a few frustrating issues. Firsr, the mileage remaining bears little resemblance to actual performance, for one thing, so I've had to learn how much to discount it depending on the drive. Second, I also *very* frustrated that the dealership did not tell me that a matte paint car cannot go through a car wash - frustrated enough that I probably would not go back to that dealership. Third, the display is blocked by the steering wheel in some odd ways. Fourth, the USB port is very finicky, so I am constantly unplugging and replugging my phone so that Android Auto will connect. Fifth, why no rear view wiper? Odd choice. Sixth, instead of that big open space between front seats, I would really have liked more closeable storage. Overall happy with the car, but not like glowing about it either.

EV Battery Needs Replacement

Favorite Car I've ever owned

We love this car so much that I got my wife a 2025 Ioniq 5 to go with my 2024. Range is excellent. I've never had to charge anywhere but at home despite some small road trips. Ride is smooth and handling is great. Safety features are excellent. Even though I only have the SEL rear wheel drive, the acceleration is amazing.

Rides well, charges quickly, adaptive cruise control works well The only two problems of note: the navigation voice is unintelligible, very muffled. (Car Play navigation voice is quite clear.) Wireless Car Play navigation has the first few seconds of driving instructions cut off each time a notification is issued.

Great car with a stupid rear window

We love having an EV and there are many things we like about the car, but the rear window is terrible and there are unnecessary bells and whistles that would make repairs very expensive.

It should be called a rally car not a SUV

Great EV. The range needs to be greater, like 320 miles, but for how we use it the 250-280 mile range is OK. Very comfortable, unique exterior styling sets it apart from all vehicles, and it is a joy to drive. Can you make the Santa Cruz at least a hybrid???

Just a great vehicle all the way around!

I knew buying an EV was new technology and expected some challenges. I got it when my ICCU failed on day before they recalled all of my year. It had been an issue for years with software updates and finally a hardware fix. The process was a pain but Gerry was assigned to my case and got me reimbursed for all my expenses and the rental car paid though them. It couldn't be more painless. I has not shaken my faith in Hyundai/Kia. In fact, it improved it. Now onto the car itself. Roomy, comfortable and loaded with every convenience. I have the dual moter AWD and it is fantastic in the snow with all-weather tires. It is quick and powerful. With the seats down it holds a lot! The ride is great and the handling is superb. Battery EV's are heavy and that really helps the ride. The ability to charge faster than evey other brand in great, but unfortunately those other brands might make it to the chargter before you. If not I usuall get 20% to 80% on a level 3 DC charger in about 12-15 minutes.
