ICCU failures are out of control and unacceptable.

If you buy this car, stay close to home because your car might unexpectedly break down without warning and leave you stranded. Hyundai is aware of the ICCU issues and has no solution except to replace it when it fails.

My first and last Hyundai

I was looking forward to drive the car since it was launched but now in 13 months of ownership, forced to change my thoughts and I will never look at any Hyundai again

Fun to drive, instant torque

Overall it was a fun car to drive i enjoyed it. I did not like that 2024 sel version was stripped down with features vs the 2022 model, that was my biggest gripe. If it had the features the 2022 version had, like the H-Tex leatherette seating and the ambient lighting then that would of made the car so much nicer and me score higher.

Car is great - Lease was a rip off

The vehicle is great but our experience with the lease return proceeds has been horrible. They are charging us almost $1000 for lease return and damage that we believe is not correct. I find it wrong that they offer to waive $400 if we “lease a new car”. Toyota never had these types of charges and we will not be back to Hyundai because of this.

Great Value and Outstanding Vehicle

The lease price has been terrific for the features I receive. I am very happy with the Ioniq 5 as an EV and a short-range commuter vehicle. Aside from a couple of issues (small trunk space and the one issue with the ICCU which was resolved quickly), I'd happily recommend this vehicle to all my friends and family.

So good I bought another

Enjoyed the 2024 SEL very powerful and comfortable. At lease expiration I bought a 2026 Limited tech upgrades on the mid cycle refresh and features of the limited vs SEL were compelling.

Great except one thing.

I own 2 Hyundai IONIQ 5s. They have both been wonderful, except both have had expensive repairs because rodents have chewed on the insulation wires. I've lived in the same house for 30 years, and I've never had this issue with any other car.

Almost an Excellent Car

There are a bunch of small issues with the car and the ICCU issue, which looms over every one: - Starter battery died - Backup camera crooked - Rear trunk rattle - Turning radius surprisingly large - App is subscription and not great, takes a while to connect - Windshield wiper spray is way too powerful - it sprays cars on all sides - No rear wiper in 2024 models - Have to manually switch on i-Pedal (one-pedal drive) every time you change gears - Have to manually turn the car off - Can't turn the car off via the app if you forget, can't lock the car if it's still on. It should just do that itself - Range is only OK - Charging speed is only ok - 2024 models have terrible pre-conditioning UX - No manual "stop charging and release the cable" button, and no way I could see to do it in the car. The only reliable way I've found is to use the app. I'm sure there are other things I've forgotten. It doesn't seem like they really understand EVs or do user experience research on how to make them usable.

Not the way to treat a customer

we owned the car for a year and a half with no problems. November 19 of 2025 we had to take car for service because of battery issue. A week later we were told a new battery was needed. The dealership was very unresponsive and for the longest time did not seem to give a sh**. We got the car back after FIVE months of waiting and little or no knowledge of when we would get a new battery. To Hyundai s credit we were provided a loaner and free gas. After getting the car back wehad to take it back to service three times the first week for various issues. The dealership has been much more helpful of late. Two stars is too generous, it should be one or none. Lorrie Dellinger. I would welcome a conversation with a Hyundai big shot.

Reliable like no car I’ve ever owned. I’m 75 years old +.

Remarkably reliable. In three years I’ve replaced a tire and a twelve volt battery, some front wipers. That’s it. EV range estimates usually bad, must use your own estimates born from experience. Not a good thing for sure because of range fear always there with EVs .

Ioniq 5 Limited User experience

This is my first EV and replaces an Audi A8 4.0T. It has as much power and room as the Audi. Not quite as plush a ride but close. Interior is much more airy and roomy. Driving experience is sublime, including creamy power delivery, absence of noise, excellent ride quality, excellent road handling, good sound system, holds 2 car seats easily. I now have my second Ioniq 5 (2026) and it corrects the few nits I had about the 2024.

Drives well in all road conditions

Perfect for city and highway driving and long road trips. Inside comfort and spacious. Great camera views for assistance. Helpful onscreen apps. You can speak to the car and tell it where you want to go! Car info synchs well with your phone. Has many more features than I have learned of yet. Major downfall is lack of rear window wipers. Much needed due to dark tint and dust.
