First car and first EV

Great first car with lots of safety features that were helpful for somebody with a long commute. My only complaint would be that it required USB plug in for phone connection and that has been updated in the newest model of the Ioniq5.

One year driving my first EV

Having driven the Ioniq 5, I'm sold on owning and driving an EV. It's quiet, smooth ride as well as adequate acceleration and power in highway driving makes it a joy on long drives. Finding charging stations to refuel has not been a problem if one does advance research and planning.

Love the car. A few issues.

I'm really enjoying my first e-car. Hyundai has a great platform and reliable cars. My issue is a noisy back hatch. Had the "recall" fix and had it really tightened down. Still have rattling.

Happy with my choice

Overall good car. A few things need changing. 1. the garage door opener doesn't work when the car is off. 2. The brakes are super squeaky. 3. No back window windsheild wiper. There are a few more things but I can't think of them now.

The BEST Car I've Ever Owned

This is a high-quality EV. I wish prices would come down on all EVs, but if you are looking to buy a good one, this is it. Comfortable, fast, decent range, solid build, nice interior, good looking exterior, etc. I just love this car.

Was hesitant about owning an EV

We walked into the dealership with a mindset of not wanting to own an EV at all. We were informed of a special and fit what we were looking for. After taking it for a test drive, we realized there was more room than the Tucson that we originally wanted. It was very smooth and very fun to ride. Overall, we enjoy the car and have plenty of room for 3 teenagers.

Underwhelming

I much preferred the Kona. This vehicles safety features are too sensitive and often inaccurate. The turning radius sucks. The dash is poorly placed behind the wheel so you can’t see any of the information unless you duck to look, I can’t see it while keeping my eyes on the road so it’s just bad.

10k miles, don't drive ⚠️ warning, 2 weeks in service and counting

I’ve owned my Hyundai Ioniq 5 for 18 months and have only put about 10,000 miles on it. I don’t drive much and take good care of my vehicles, which makes the current situation even more frustrating. My car has now been in service for more than two weeks, with no clear timeline or meaningful updates. For a vehicle that came with two years of complimentary charging, I expected reliability. Instead, I’ve been stuck driving a gas-powered rental minivan, spending time, money, and energy I never planned to spend, especially ironic given that I chose an EV specifically to avoid fuel costs and environmental impact. The Ioniq 5 is great when it works, but these kinds of long service delays make it hard to trust the ownership experience. I’m hoping Hyundai recognizes the inconvenience and additional out-of-pocket costs this situation has caused and does something to make this right. At the very least, customers shouldn’t be left worse off than before they went electric. Right now, it’s very hard to recommend the Ioniq 5 until the reliability and service delays are seriously addressed.

Great car, a few nit

My first EV and in general I love it and will never go back to ICE. That said… 1) way too much screen space and difficult to find anything. This is common, but makes operating the car considerably more difficult to do. 2) no rear windshield wiper. I just can’t. 3) No spare tire. I know these are going away, but I’ve already had to replace a tire that had sidewall damage and it made dealing with the flat much more time consuming. 4) Beeps. Jesus. They are constant and I have no centralized space to figure out what they correspond to, not to mention they can be incredibly startling when they come out of nowhere. If I need to know something, I shouldn’t have to spend thirty seconds, while driving, to figure it out. Just give me the info I need in an obvious spot and kill all the eye candy. I’m not playing a video game (although my experience is that is exactly what most people are doing in their cars). 5) I hate hate hate non-press “buttons”. There’s a whole line of these underneath the center display, and no tactile feedback. 6) escape proof exterior door handles. I am leasing this vehicle and will be looking for a car that fixes some or all of these issues when the lease is up. I really liked the Ioniq but will look for something I can interact with more easily on the next one. Oh, and learn how to tell me if 1 or 10 is higher in your survey directly below this box.

Enjoyable but lacks real usability in certain cases

we thoroughly enjoyed our ioniq5. It was our sole car for a year with a family of 4 ( two toddlers). While it wasn’t the best option in long road trips, vacations and traveling longer than just outside our Local Bubble—we enjoyed our ioniq5. It’s fun to drive, easy to maintain and perfect for around town and semi-local trips.

Fast Charging and Easy for Everyday Driving

This is my second IONIQ 5, leased after my first one was totaled in an accident. The car has excellent battery charging performance and is fun to drive. However, the build quality is noticeably low. I constantly hear a noise from the trunk door, as if some bolts are loose. I worry that after three to four years, the car may become difficult to maintain. Bottom line: the IONIQ 5 is a good option to lease if you can get a solid deal—but not something I’d want to keep long-term.
