Mostly great car, incredibly poor support from Hyundai

The car is really fun to drive, has excellent range and has good features. It has had a couple of significant systems problems with charging and the 12V battery, as well as an annoying tailgate rattle. Hyundai has not adequately fixed any of them. National Hyundai customer support delays, ignores, claims no knowledge of widespread problems, and never, ever follows up.

Great car, but with a few minor improvements it would be awesome

If the rear view mirror had the option of being a monitor so that if the luggage area was full and you couldn't see out the rear view mirror, you would be able to see everything via the rear view cameras on the car. It should be compatible with wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple Car Play. The small compartment between the driver's seat and the passenger's seat should be deeper. All of the interior lights should be LED lights, especially in the cargo area. If somehow you could get the range up to 400 miles, that would be a homerun.

Reliable with great safety features

In three years had only one problem. The 12V battery failed which caused the car to be inoperative. The problem was that the 12V battery was allowed to discharge during idle periods and wasn't being recharged automatically. A Software update fixed the problem. The only other issue is that the driving range in cold weather is reduced significantly

Still amazing three years later

I got my Ioniq 5 after trying to find a fully electric car with a decent enough range for day trips. The Ioniq has continued to impress me with its comfort, ease of charging, and mileage.

Fun and comfortable

I love this car, it's responsive and has great control and mileage and works for a wide range of activities we do. Turning radius is embarrassingly bad but otherwise is great for us. Ultrafast charging (15min to get to 80% at EA chargers) and large enough for 5 adults to sit comfortably.

An excellent vehicle, a few choices are maddening & frustrating.

The Ioniq 5 overall is a pleasure. The drive is pleasant, shutting out most outside noise while absorbing many of the potholes and roughness of driving through the City. However, there are several aspects of the car that either feel like inadequate thought was put into them or corners were cut. The lack of a rear windshield wiper was, overall, the worst design choice possible and truly inconceivable. However, the little ridge over the back window is also annoying because it prevents proper washing of the back windshield at the carwash but does not actually serve any seeming purpose. The lack of wireless support for Android Auto also feels as though corners were cut. The Hyundai Blue link system is inferior to Android Auto and removes several features - especially the dash map - that other automobiles that rely predominantly on Android as their operating system, provide. It seems like this was done solely to try to force people to buy Bluelink subscriptions after the fact. Hyundai had an opportunity to use this early prowess in the EV space to guarantee all future EVs I purchase would be Hyundais. Instead, while nothing was insufficient enough to prevent me from considering a Hyundai, enough felt overlooked or intentionally omitted that I will be looking at other brands as well.

Wish there was a rear window wiper!

I have one major complaint and that there is no rear window wiper. Whoever made that decision obviously lives in a dry country! My other complaint is that the rear hatch rattles/squeaks a lot. Hyundai dealer mechanics put some additional pads (or similar) in, but they had a very minimal effect. A third complaint - someone should warn buyers that the tires do not last very long. Dealer's mechanics told me I needed new tires when they had less than 20,000 miles on them. But the tires still did have plenty of tread according to a friend who knows cars and reading info online about what to look for with worn tires.

The vehicle is great... service is lacking.

Ok, charging the vehicle has always been an issue. At first, I was told a component was heating up and it would be replaced, but the issue has never been resolved. Now I'm told that everything tests ok and slow charging is ok. Charging starts at 48 amps and drops to 30 amps. How is that ok? Oh, I haven't mentioned that the padding on the backside of the rear seats falls off. I was told the adhesive needed to be ordered. Such a long time has passed but, you guessed it, still no call.
