Ioniq 5 review

Every year I have to get tires balanced as car wobbles at speed of 55 and above. According to the technician there is some problems with tire but delaer can not do anything. Did report this to Hyundai after it was repaired second time by dealer. Did not get proper response. Asking me to wait till that happens again. Twice in 2 years is not sufficient for them.

Hyundai ioniq5 review

Generally, a good car. It has a good range, drives quietly and looks good. It is a solid ride, good acceleration, etc, but cornering is not its strong suit. Other cars I’ve had are better going around tight curves. The interior is spacious, and passengers are comfortable. The cockpit is ok, not superior. I like the cruise setting, but totally dislike the auto-steer/change lane function, which is laborious and unresponsive. Radio interface is weird so I generally don’t use it and when I attach a device wiht the usb cable, the device disconnects at every bump in the road.

Great potential. Big downsides

Great car at first. Then you start noticing all the issues. Two different coolant loops. Different than any other ev in the lineup which cost large amounts to replace. Defeats the purpose of less maintenance vs gas. Trunk has always rattled. Even after “fixes”. Dash has rattle. Hyundai cheaped out on 12v batteries leaving you stranded with no warning. Constant worry about icu failures and potentially not having your car for months. Terrible service departments with long waits and rude reps. Seats wrinkle easily. Ac has issues where it takes multiple power cycles before it starts working again. Other than that it’s been great.

Great car, back seat needs better A/C, needs a charging adapter

Good car with great handling and nice features. The back seat needs better A/C and it needs a charging adapter to make open up more charging stations.

Service departments are a joke

Incompetent service writers. Car needed wheel alignment at 8,000 miles. Car is nice the dealer is dreadful. Long waits for service appointments and long waits once in for service. Brain dead service writers.

The car is very fun to drive . I charge the car at home otherwise I would not take it on road trips due to the lack of stations. I have a constant fear of ICCU failure . The digital teal color is beautiful . The interior quality has much to be desired .

For the most part I am very happy with my car and it is fun to drive. I have only a few nits to pick, which are as follows. - The door unlocked notification needs to be smart. When my car is parked in the garage it should not be notifying me it is unlocked. The geolocation should know I am "Home" and disable the notification. - Hatch closure with the key fob should function identically to pushing the close button, i.e. should not have to hold fob button until fully closed. - This +$50K car should (must!) have a rear window wiper - It should also have a driver seat memory function - The front windshield wipers cannot be lifted off the windshield because of interference with the hood. Makes changing wiper blades very difficult.

Best suv at the time on the market that is electric

I love all the festutes if thr car it handles in snow well anf it helps you drive seemless. Only take easy is the car is not very secure it can be stolen easy. And unlocks after charging. So make sure you park in secure areas. It takes 30 seconds to steal it. And the back opens up still when I walk around it. Still its the best car I have had. The fuel goes down equivalent of an suv. Other warnings ate matience tires sre hesvy weight tires and cost twice as much to replace and have a half life. Runs 1500-2000 The cleaning of the coolant system is 1 k each time and is required every 6 months or so. This is on top of the car bill.

My opinion

I like the car, glad I bought it. I have had one major malfunction the car died because of an ICCU failure but Hyundai fixed it without issues. The user interface is not as friendly as a Tesla.

Drives exceptionally well with fantastic acceleration.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my Ioniq 5. The majority of my driving is within 3 miles. However, I've noticed that when I take trips to the airport, round trip 44 miles, I've used approximately 18% of my charge which gives me a maximum range of approximately 250 miles. Granted my trip to the airport is highway driving with speeds in excess of 70 mph which will certainly deplete the battery charge faster. I'm just not sure that the battery technology used in my vehicle is as efficient as an internal combustion engine. In retrospect, I feel that a hybrid vehicle might have been a better choice.

Great car with a fatal flaw

This is potentially the best value EV out there. A solid vehicle with great performance and comfort. So what's the problem? It has a fatal flaw that renders it unsellable. A major component, the ICCU, breaks much more than Hyundai is willing to admit. This can happen anywhere, anytime, on any highway, at any speed. When it happens, the vehicle shuts down. If you are near home you get it towed to a dealer at your own expense and then it sits there for 2 month waiting for a replacement part that has the same flaw as the one that just broke. If you are not near home you get it towed to the nearest dealer at your expense, find you way home at your expense and wait 2 months for wherever it is to get repaired which at that point you find your way there somehow and drive it home, hopefully without the ICCU failing again on the way home.

Somewhat disappointed. It was the first EV car we have owned. don't care for it.
