Performance

The Ioniq5 is a very comfortable, quiet car with good acceleration. A nice looking car and practical as a mid sized SUV. There have been several recalls that were not critical in nature. The failure of the 12 volt battery was the only repair related activity so far

The SUV Hatchback with no rear wiper.

After taking my car to the dealership for many recalls and minor problems, the vehicle, overall, is never dull. I always enjoy the rocket acceleration. This car can keep up with most any normal sports car on the highway.

the car is comfortable with a good overall driving experience, but the driving range deteriorated rapidly after purchase (lease). a number of the electronic functions don't work well or have odd quirks that make me think that some features were designed by someone that doesn't own or drive a car. the self-lock/unlock is not good. scheduled charge is not reliable, which greatly impacts reliability (it is very annoying to find the car uncharged after being plugged in with the care announcing "charge scheduled" the night before). the driver lane assist will stop working without notice and sometimes doesn't start working with no way of knowing if it's on or just needs more time to figure out where the car is.

A mixed bag!

Overall in the day to day the car is fantastic. We love the way it drives, how comfortable it is and at sensible highway speeds it is pretty efficient. However, we have been very disappointed by the number of recalls and the major issues with the ICCU. We had this fail, stranding us while on holiday, and while a "local" Hyundai dealer was able to fix the car in 5 days we were unable to claim the cost of a rental, Hyundai simply denied the claim... When the car was towed to the dealer we were reassured a replacement car or rental would be covered as the ICCU failure was a manufacturing fault. We are now very worried the ICCU might fail again and strand us somewhere with a new born baby!... Very disappointing for a brand new expensive car. It makes it very hard to recommend to others. The lack of clear communication from Hyundai on this issue is also frustrating! It seems like the recalls have simply replaced ICCUs with the same unit again so we have no confidence it won't fail in the future. In addition to the above it is very hard to get an appointment at a Hyundai garage so services and recalls take ages to get sorted. We also really struggled with the NACS adapter (we still haven't received one...) Having to ensure one hidden button is toggled on the website was annoying at first, then the email came through with an old address despite Hyundai having our new address for other post. We then couldn't update our address on the website, and multiple requests to customer services didn't get a reply or a resolution. It would have been better if you'd simply let people buy them from you at low cost rather than go through this annoying performance. The logistics must have cost Hyundai a fortune! Finally having to use the Hyundai maps for battery preconditioning is frustrating to the point we don't use it. The maps are often out of date, don't know the latest traffic and it is very hard to put in the correct charging station to activate the preconditioning. There needs to be a way of using preconditioning and Android Auto! We would switch car brands for a feature like this in the future.

Overall, a very good vehicle!

Very comfortable and roomy in town and on the road. Nicley appointed upholstery. Performance galore. A bit challenging for my 6' 2" frame to enter and exit. No rear window washer/wiper is a real problem. I understand that is no longer a problem in 2025 - but that doesn't help me. Major oversight in my perspective. No memory for drivers seat and mirrors. I know that's available - and I wasn't willing to spend $6,000 for this - the only feature I was interested in from the next higher package. Too many prompts in the nav system - annoying.

Best car I have owned

The Ionic5 is a great car—comfort, performance, reliability. We have put on over 59,000 miles in a little over 2 1/2 years. It has had almost no repairs needed: just one reprogramming of the charger that cut off occasionally, and one replaced cap on the receiver of the fast-charging port The biggest disappointment is no rear wiper. We live on a gravel road and the dust accumulated so you can’t see out the rear. Same with winter snow. This is a stupid omission that lessens driving safety.

Great All-Round EV SUV

My 2023 Ioniq 5 is stylish, roomy, smooth, and quiet. It has great acceleration and is a blast to drive. It charges very quickly on DC fast chargers that support the 800 volt architecture. The range with the All Wheel Drive SEL model is decent. The maintenance has been very minimal in the first two years of ownership, and I've had only a few minor issues with the vehicle. The lack of software updates over the past year has been a little disappointing. Overall I have been very happy with the Ioniq 5 so far.

Good Vehicle and functional

Good combination of performance and styling. It still is a head turner despite seeing more of them than when I purchased. IMO severe design flaw w/o rear window wiper/cleaner. Cannot see through rear window in inclement weather.

Car is fantastic, favorite car I’ve ever owned. A few observations- ICCU issue, while I haven’t had da problem it’s concerning to think this is lurking USB ports seem inconsistent Lack of support for push button battery preconditioning and wireless car play - this should be an OTA update

I love my Ioniq 5

This is my first EV and it is wonderful. Great acceleration and handling. Quiet. The EV charging is easy to use. Love the wide display in the center console. Virtually no maintenance. I take it in for an inspection periodically and rotate the tires. Thats it. My only complaint is I have gone through 2 12V batteries in the 2 1/2 years I have owned it.
