Excellent vehicle, great for road trips and getting around town

The IONIQ5 is really in the sweet spot of price, features, range and fast charging. It's fun to drive, gets great mileage, has plenty of cargo space, and has good traction in the snow. My one complaint is that the onboard navigation isn't nearly as good as Google Maps in terms of making it easy to set up, follow and alter a route, however Google Maps/Android Auto doesn't have access to the battery state, the heads up display or the battery preconditioner, and the car prevents you from using both Google and the onboard nav at the same time.

Best vehicle I have owned

The Ioniq5 is an efficient, fun-to-drive vehicle. It is comfortable, spacious, and non-ostentatious. The Highway Drive Assist (HDA) features are highly effective at reducing driver fatigue while maintaining safety. The HDA, comfort, and "roominess," combined with fast-charging capabilities, make the Ioniq5 an ideal vehicle for long-distance and vacation travel, while serving perfectly as a commuter car for short-distance, everyday driving.

Ioniq 5 saved my family’s life

All in all, the Ioniq 5 is an amazing vehicle. I owned the vehicle for approximately 3 years before my family and I were involved in a rear-end collision. We were stopped on a 55 mph road waiting on on-coming traffic while making a left-hand turn. A driver rear-ended us at 60 mph or more. He never slowed down. He hit us so fast we did a complete 360 and got pushed more than 50 feet into a home owners yard. My infant twins were in the back seat. The Ioniq 5 did its job and protected my entire family. My twins were almost completely unphased and walked away with only a few cuts / bruises. My wife and I walked away with minor injuries (as of writing this). My biggest advice for the future of the Ioniq 5 is to never forget about safety and the families driving these vehicles.

Overall Pleased with Purhcase

Car is still comfortable, quiet and preforms well in all types of situations. A little disappointed by the need to replace the 12v battery, the trunk rattle, and the door rattle. All of which are fixable.

I love the car and how it runs. I dislike that there is no windshield wiper for the back window. It's a hatchback - that's a dumb design flaw

Happy, mostly

Like the compact exterior size of the vehicle but still has plenty of interior room. The battery does not last nearly as long as the console indicates. I’m unable to drive 3-4 hours without a charge. Perhaps I was oversold on battery life, as this may be as it is. Also, the climate controls are very confusing - not intuitive. I shouldn’t have to go into a screen to figure out how to change between AC and heat.

Nice Car.

This is a nice car with great features. There was a recall and then a part of back order for over 2 months. So I was unable to drive my car - there was no offer to extend my free charging or the use of the remote app control. That was disappointing.

Love this car

I’ve never been a car person, but I have to say I love this car. The ride is smooth, quiet and quick. Great interior size. Incredibly comfortable. The quick charging speeds along with the battery range have made road trips very easy and stress free.

Not the Smartest Tool in the Shed

Although the Ionic 5 is a good car, the programming is one of the worst things I have ever seen in a car. I rent electric cars throughout the US and the Ionic 5 is one of the LEAST intuitive cars I have driven. The iPedal mode is the WORST! I use iPedal and for some reason, Hyundai thinks my car needs to go out of iPedal mode whenever the car changes gears or is parked. Sometimes, I forget that it has come out of iPedal mode and almost barreled into the car in front of me. One day Hyundai's lack of intelligence will cause an accident and I will be firing back litigiously with all attorney's a-blazing. Why not have a menu setting allowing me to select iPedal as my default? Second, I had to drive a short distance with my rear hatch open. Not only did the car keep alarming me, but it engaged the Parking Brake WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE and I drove about 1000 feet with my parking brake engaged and I am certain that there was damage done. Why can't I opt manually for the hatchback to be open while driving? Lastly, I hate driver's assist. With the Ionic 5 every time you engage cruise control, the car goes into "auto drive mode" and again, I have almost crashed because the car is fighting me with the steering wheel. While I do enjoy driving the car much of the time, it's the software programming that is 100% garbage.

Fun to drive, but missing important components

I like this car as my daily driver. It is fun to drive and comfortable to be in. There is ample trunk space and enough room for kids to sit comfortably in the backseat. Unfortunately there are some significant missteps: (1) no rear windshield wiper, and with the positioning of the glass, snow and rain tend to sit there making it impossible to see; (2) terrible navigation software - highly inefficient directions and inaccurate data, it doesn't even recognize that I can turn on my street to get into my neighborhood (which is not new); and (3) clunky integration with Android phones. Overall, we enjoy the car and will drive it for awhile, but am a bit disappointed in these things which definitely pact how we use it every day.

Drives very well. Lots of little annoyances.

Driving characteristics are very good compared with other modern, drive-by-wire passenger cars. However, a large number of poor and short sighted designs, poor software functions, and poor build issues overshadows what could be a very good car.
