In the shop for a month and still no date on the part

While the car was running, I have to say I was very happy with the driving conditions and the comfort. Unfortunately, there is a problem with the battery. I’m not exactly sure where their parts come from but they told me it might be three weeks to a month. It’s been well over that and I still don’t know when the part is going to get here.

Great car with a couple minor flaws. After-sales service dealbreaker.

I was very happy with this car for the first 18 months, then the issues started happening. And I believe they were all small issues but the experience in all 3 dealerships I visited in my area was apalling. First there were the month-long delays to even get service. Then I felt scammed out of my money and mistreated by employees who were unable or unwilling to fix the issues, A faulty 12v battery under warranty took over a month, 4 roadside assistance calls, and 3 visits to a dealership to get replaced. Also, in one of the visits they broke one of the tires and didn't take responsibility so I had to replace all 4 tires at my own expense.

The car was determined to be a lemon and re-purchased by Hyundai

The air conditioning failed to work at 1700 miles. Despite repeated unsuccessful attempts to fix the problem over the course of eight months, Hyundai refused to accept responsibility for the fact that the car was a lemon. I pursued the matter through the Better Business Bureau Auto Line, and an arbitrator ruled in my favor. It then took Hyundai 4 additional months to fulfill their obligations and repurchase the car.

Could be five stars

Five stars except for 12 volt battery recalls and third party charging. Could be better on software updates. Overall still a very nice car value I’m sure it will be better over time. Electric cars are the future and Hyundai has done great.

This car gives me what I want in an electric vehicle.

Among all the electric cars, this one is the best value. I got everything I needed in an electric car for a modest price. The only two problems I had were: 1: The tailgate made squeaking noises (but the dealer fixed it). 2: The level 2 charging at 48 amps did not work (but the dealer put in a software workaround that allows for charging at lower amps - still not really 48 amps, but at least it doesn't stop dead in its tracks).

Recall victim

I loved my Ionic 5 until a week ago, when it suddenly, and rather dramatically, stopped working while I was driving. It’s the battery recall issue. No warning signs before getting a dashboard message that said “stop vehicle and check power supply.” Thankfully I was in a spot where it was safe to quickly pull over (versus on a bridge or highway!). Of course, a lot of cars have recall issues, but it doesn’t seem like Hyundai is prepared to handle this one. My car has been with the service department since March 26 (8 days ago at this writing) and I still don’t have an ETA on when it will be fixed. Parts on back order, only 2 of 20 technicians at the dealership have the skills required to work on it, I am told. No loaner cars available. Was told to ‘Google’ Hyundai Customer Care to see about getting a rental. Very disappointed. Though I appreciate being reimbursed for the rental and the emergency helpline service was excellent when I called for a tow. I might take this moment to also say it has been very challenging to service this car over the past 2 years. Not every Hyundai dealer will take it, and when they do, they don’t seem knowledge about the car. The industry needs to catch up.

Love how it drives. Love how looks. Very pleased with the dealership Tires are sporty. Handles driving in the mountains easily. Lots of room for 5 people. Backspace is very roomy. All the safety features are wonderful.

Disgusted ioniq 5 owner

My Ioniq 5 has been a colossal disappointment. It has spent 6 of the last 24 months in the shop. The brakes have failed resulting in a collision, the tires have been defective, and 10 minutes after picking up the car after a recall, the battery failed resulting in the car being in the dealership for 2 months.

5 recalls in under 2 years says it all

This car has been recalled 5 times in 2 years. One recall was not successfully carried out and the cars propulsion stopped suddenly while at speed. Unsafe and unacceptable. Rear visibility is poor as no rear washer or rear wiper.

Don’t buy any evs from hyndai, cheap company to deal with , evan their own dealers don’t have facilities to repair it, in my area ,dealer don’t have facilities, so I have to go other places far away from my house

Superlative commuter car for long daily commutes

Super reliable, very quiet, very comfortable car. I commute 72 miles per day. On a full charge the car routinely travels 280+ miles (332 mi best range). Using 80% max charge for battery longevity, I get 3 days of commutes between charges. The cost of at home level 2 charging is well less than half the cost of gasoline for an ICE equivalent commuter car.

Needs a rear windshield wiper an back-up camera cleaner. Self cleaning sensors & cameras would be great.should come with lifetime app, navigation, and remote star-warm-up. No subscription cost. Lifetime wireless updates.

Fantastic Vehicle Experience

Great Vehicle when it Works

The look, interior and drive quality of ioniq-5 is on par with all the top EVs but Hyundai s reliability is a big question. My ioniq failed me couple of weeks after leasing. The way Hyundai dealt with the situation was sub par. Please look for more reliable companies for your purchase. Prior to purchase I thought Hyundai was one, but proven wrong.

1st EV experience after 10,000 miles

So happy with my 1st EV.My wife and I love one pedal driving and quieter interior.In Florida Florida light and power also known as FPL has an awesome deal.They install the charger and you don’t have to pay cost of charger or installation fee.We have unlimited off peak charging and pay $38 a month.If you already have a charger you pay $28 a month.So far we have saved at least $900 in one year.Getting 2 years of maintenance for free.I hear that new models will come with an adapter to use at Tesla chargers so range anxiety will be gone.I wanted to give 5 star but not having a rear wiper does make driving difficult in heavy rain.

Almost Perfect

My 2023 IONIQ 5 SE AWD is an excellent EV with glaring flaws. The less severe flaw is the software, specifically the route planning. Although it gives you charging stations along your route, the information is often nonsensical and/or incorrect. I advise using Google or Apple Maps instead and a third-party app for charging stations. The most serious problem is that the 2022-2024 year models are prone to ICCU failures, resulting in dead 12v batteries. Recalls are in place to alleviate the problem, but they have not always worked, as some users still have them fail. At this date, I have not had a problem, and I hope I will not.

Great car if travel is under 300 miles

Love the car for local driving. Very easy to drive and comfortable. Have had issues at commercial charging stations so installed level 2 charge at home. Level 1 charging take up to 3 plus days to recharge if you run it down to 20 percent. Commercial charging infrastructure still shaky and issues with charging have been encountered IF YOU ONLY DO LOCAL TRAVEL IT IS AND EXCELLENT CHOICE.. GREAT OVERALL VEHICLE.

Great car but….

It’s a great car for local driving and not having to pay for gas, especially with the 2 year free charging with Electrify America. I would say it is not worth it after 2 years. The car price + charging costs would not be worth it. Not great for highway driving as battery depletes fast with speeds at +60mph. There are a lot of rattles, it is incredibly annoying. It’s a great looking car and has some excellent features but also some annoying ones. Having a bike rack on the back is a pain as the car senses an object behind the vehicle and applies emergency braking. You need to turn that function off every time before going into reverse. Annoying! USB-A charges everywhere and nowadays mostly everything is USB-C. No wireless CarPlay which is crazy. A basic Toyota Corolla has that. The data port for the cable to plug your phone in for CarPlay is near the floor next to the gas pedal. There is no good place to put your phone. Annoying. A plus is that it charges faster than most others EVs we notice at the charging stations. We look forward to no charging costs for the next year and dreading the charging costs for the last year of our lease. We look forward in general to the lease being over so we can get a different vehicle.

Amazing electric SUV

Such a fun, comfortable and safe ride. I love how well it handles, accelerates, how smoothly it drives, and all the interior features are great. Wonderful for a road trip from SLC to Pacific, and great for adventures in the mountains (on road) and weekly commute and running kids around.

Favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned

I feel for this vehicle hard over time. The residual braking paddle shifter system is my favorite feature, and is superior to other auto manufacturers I’ve tried with the same feature. I would absolutely recommend it if you can afford it.
