Great comfort and technology, but the Powertrain needs improvement

To be fair, we have mostly really enjoyed our Santa Fe. We knew the first model year might have some bugs - and it does. We have had 4 recalls. The dealer has been great, but it is annoying to have so many. We love the ride comfort, interior layout and overall look and feel of the car. It really stands out among the competition. But the Engine/transmission makes it somewhat unpleasant to drive. We have the ICE version, not the hybrid. The engine is quite powerful, but it has noticeable turbo lab. That, coupled with the odd choice of a dual wet clutch transmission, makes our front-wheel drive version ungainly when accelerating. You press on the accelerator, and not much happens right away, so the temptation is to give it more gas. In this second, the RPM's have risen to the "sweet spot" and it takes off with a burst of power that nearly always overwhelms the traction of the front wheels. The traction control system can't keep up either. This makes it unpredictable and less fun to drive. At times it even feels unsafe. So much power in a large vehicle with only front wheel drive is a bad decision (in my opinion). I'm sure the additional traction of all wheel drive eliminates the loss of traction and the tremendous torque steer. But the delay in power would surely still be present. Finally, even though our 2024 ICE version with the Dual Clutch transmission has not had transmission problems, so many others have that our car's value is VERY low compared to other comparable vehicles. For once, I am grateful we leased because the residual value is far too low to consider buying - even if we wanted to.

Technology Outpaces Battery

Great technology ruined by poor battery technology. Parasitic draw has killed car 3 times. Spent 2+ weeks at dealers, could never find which component was the problem.

Transmission fail

7 weeks ago my car died. Car needed to be towed to nearest dealership. I was on vacation over 22 hours from home. The Transmission needed to be replaced. 7 weeks later I am still waiting for a replacement. I do not have my vehicle. Customer service has not given me an outcome. So disappointed with the CSS Department. Time to lemon law this and refund my payments. Been a loyal Hyundai/Kia customer for over 20 years. Never again will I purchase a Hyundai/Kia.

I love the 3 rows, but wish that you could put 2 car seats in row 2 and still be able to recline and push back the front row. I don’t feel like there is enough room.

Santa fe Se AWD

Transmission had a cylinder misfire too early. Life gate kept opening and close by it self while in park and driving Jerking while accelerating Infotainment screen goes blank and turn green. Transmission error causing vehicle to searching for gear while driving Too many recalls and most of my experience problems the dealership can never replicate because it never register into the computer system software. I was one of the first set of people to buy this vehicle when It came out and that the mistake I make because it looks like if I bought the trial ones. Wish if hyundai can do a full buy back from me so I can put the rest of money and switch to the palisade instead look like those are more reliable. Feel like I got stuck with a lemon car here for now steady visit to the dealership.

Windshield issues

I’m sitting at Safelight right now waiting on my vehicle due to a crack that I caught on time. I purchased this vehicle in 2024 and I have already had to replace the windshield twice. Same crack that started at right lower point and spread over to driver side both times within a few hours, vehicle not even moving. Extremely disappointed and over it at this point!!!!!! Would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Options

The Santa Fe has many options, but the one option that is reserved for Genesis and should be part of the limited and calligraphy trim is the power tilt, and zoom steering wheel. It has so many options that are part of a more upscale vehicle that it just makes sense to add the tilt/power steering wheel
