Loved the vehicle, warranty and customer service have been terrible

Bought the vehicle brand new and have enjoyed the vehicle, have had a few warranty issues and everytime it has been a 1-2 month battle to get anything answered or covered that is very cleary a manufacturing defect. Has happened with a plastic roof body panel that cracked for no apparent reason, and some warning lights that keep coming on the dash.

Difficult for older small people to drive and manage

Twisty shifter operation is very difficult to see and operate and sometimes seems to have a mind of its own

Drives well, instrument panels suck

Cabin control options are all touch screen - they work well in the showroom, but drive in the sunlight and they are impossible to use. The map screen appears great at first glance - but the street names are too tiny to read while driving, and are grey rather than a good contrast. The inst panel of directions is virtually the same size and content as the larger screen - useless. The rest of the car is great! The gas gauge is tiny while the tach is huge! Why on earth? I never need the tach.

Nice car, but a few major flaws

Overall I like the redesigned Santa Fe. It is very comfortable, decent gas mileage and has some great tech features (the curved all-in-one display with the touchscreen is awesome). However, there are a few design flaws that really detract from the experience. First is the gear shift. I don't know what they were going for, but putting the shifter 3" away from the control for the windshield wipers, and having them work the exact same way was a terrible idea. There have probably been a dozen times where I or my wife has turned the wrong lever while driving. Second, the system that monitors the driver needs to be fixed/recalibrated. I have prescription sunglasses (not even a dark tint), and whenever I wear them while driving on the highway the camera mounted on the steering wheel is not able to detect my eyes so it beeps and reminds me to watch the road. On a recent trip driving into the evening sun I had to pull my sunglasses up over 50 times in a couple hours to keep the car from stopping. I've had a service manager at a dealership try to deactivate the driver sensor, but it isn't able to override this feature.

It’s the small things

The vehicle is great in so many ways but small things like the proximity sensor at the drive throughs and the random disconnect and jumping on the infotainment and phone is distracting when driving

Many trips to the mechanic

We've had to take the Santa Fe in for service three times due to a battery malfunction that was not recognized until the third trip, and we've dealt with three tire replacements, which our mechanic suggested was due to the low profile nature of the tires. We were so excited to get this vehicle as a reliable replacement for our Land Rover, but we will very likely turn the vehicle in at the end of our lease and look for another manufacturer for our next family car. I'd also note there are several design flaws with the seatbelt buckles. Our kids don't have the strength to buckle their belts in the second row.

Strong mix of cool and technology.

I have found this vehicle to be a great option with strong features and a solid value proposition. It has great technology, comfort, fuel efficiency and strong cargo capacity. To me it is comparable with luxury vehicles that are significantly more expensive.
