Things I wasn’t told about before leasing

I didn’t know my insurance would go up $100.00 a month and I would have to pay an extra $100.00 to renew my car tags. I didn’t know I would have to choose between the heater or mileage or that cold temperatures would affect the mileage. I wish I had known these things before purchasing.

I like the way the car drives. I have owned an EV since 2013. Good service from dealership. Very efficient. Drawbacks: Rims scuff easily. Range has always been somewhat unpredictable. Will sometimes fully charge and range can be as high as 450 and always somewhere between 360 and 450. I have brought the car in for 2 recalls that seemed to be about (not clear) range programming adjustments. Recently received the Tesla adapter over a year later from my initial application. Four calls to corporate about the delay were met with no explanation or reason. Only "we are still investigating" and you will be receiving an email notification which never came.

Best decision I ever made!

This is the best car I've ever owned. I've driven many Toyotas and Hondas over the years as well as an Acura. Switching to full electric was my goal and I did a bunch of research before landing on this one. It is so sleek and beautiful inside and out. Runs and zooms like a charm. Check out how much it looks like the new Porsche!

Ionic 6 review

Beautiful interior and smooth ride with great acceleration and great looks. Very comfortable on long trips. Trunk is big as is back seat - a big plus when hauling my bike and golf clubs and luggage. Range in AWD is a bit disappointing, particularly if you don't drive the speed limit on long trips or in cold weather which drove me a little nuts. Nationwide network of chargers still in progress, and takes lots of planning if travelling a long distance. Disappointed with the exterior shell of car as it appears to be cheap - top of my front hood has small dents from periodic falling debris (not hail) and I've seen this on other Ionic 6s too. Overall, love the car but not sure I will go electric again. The two free years of charging on Electrify AMERICA was terrific as I used it on long trips - I miss that now that I'm in my third year of lease.

Underwhelming

The Ionic 6 is a very sleek looking car, it's fun to drive, and it has a lot of "wow" factors that I like. At the same time, though, there are a handful of fundamental flaws that have made me very glad that I'm only leasing the vehicle and not purchasing it. This is my first EV, and the change in range expectations between summer and winter is unbelievable; it feels like I'm driving two totally different cars. In the summer, my range prediction at full charge is over 335 miles - which is impressive. I don't think I get *anywhere* close to that in reality, and I don't trust that range prediction one bit. But, in the winter, all bets are off. I feel like I'm charging my car multiple times a week, and I don't even drive much. Beyond that, the car doesn't feel built super well: things are constantly rattling on the inside, particularly in the center console space. Also, this car not coming equipped with Apple Car play, despite older, less expensive cars having it standard, is a huge disappointment. The fact that this car requires a dongle adapter or cord to get CarPlay is disappointing. More than once, too, the seatbelts have become stuck while extended, which is annoying.

Iccu issues

The vehicle is fantastic, I've added a speaker system but the biggest downside is the ICCU failure at just under 60k. No warning just stranded at work and the dealership had no loaners so I had to eat the cost of the rental while I waited a little over 3 weeks (2 for repair, 1 for additional repair due to coolant line needing to be reburped)

Great car with a few learning opportunities

Mechanically and 99% of the time, this car is great. Ride is smooth, surprisingly quick even in Eco mode, I get around an estimated 350 miles range at 95% charge. Spacious enough for four adults to sit comfortably. My only complaints have to do with the interior styling. A) the front seat belts frequently catch on clothing when getting out of the car, resulting in a seat belt getting shut in the door or the buckle preventing the door from closing. I'm not sure if a slightly different attachement point on the pillar or stronger uptake spring on the belt would fix that. B) the right side edge of the dash is basically a reinforced tablet-thick piece of plastic that regularly clips my knees getting in or out, especially if a shorter person moved the seat after servicing. The lower corner could be softened and less angular to flow with the larger styling of the dash C) Glass Cockpit designs look great, but climate controls being on either a touch screen or a smooth touch-reactivr panel requires taking eyes off the road to adjust heat or AC.

Constant unresolved electrical issues

The vehicle itself is wonderful, but I’ve had numerous electrical issues that have been unresolved that have ruined my faith in Hyundais electric vehicles. I have consistently had a “Check EV SYSTEM” light on in my car for the two years I’ve had it, that still haven’t been resolved despite being brought in 3 separate times. Along with this failures in the accessories, 12 volt, and horn. The car truly is a nice comfortable drive, but with electric issues I can’t recommend.
