25 Ioniq 5 Limited

We had been interested in having a full electric vehicle. We had a plug-in hybrid (Toyota Prius Prime) but I felt that it was wrong to be dragging an engine and a gas tank around. We did a lot of research and I had been thinking of going with a Tesla but for the politics. An then I started looking a bit more serious at the Ioniq 5. My wife really doesn't like to drive, so we had to be careful in the vehicle selection. We went to the local Hyundai dealership and gave the Ioniq 5 a test drive. I did enjoy driving the car but so did my wife. We decided to lease it for two years because we didn't want to buy due to depreciation. We are also concern about upgrades in technology - such as batteries. We have now had the car for four months and just about every time we drive it, we either find something new that just works so well or it's just fun to drive. My favorite feature is the heads-up display - everything is just there in front of me. It's great. We recommend this vehicle to everyone who asks about it.

Great to drive but a few annoyances

Overall this is a great car to drive. It is smooth and comfortable and all the settings are easy to navigate. The climate control is great and it has a good amount of room without being too huge. However I have two complaints that prevent it from being 5 stars. First is the charging port location. It is on the rear passenger side, a standard place for a gas cap but makes no sense for a EV plug. The charging port should be on the front. Second, some of the driver “assists” are way too paranoid. I get a screaming loud beep on the lowest setting when I am parking anywhere near another car and the lane keeping assist never believes I am looking forward (says no face detected) and thus won’t activate.

Hyundai Motor Finance is completely terrible

I was liking my car until I had the great misfortune of having to deal with Hyundai Motor Finance, first time dealing with a lease just to get taken advantage of like a chump.

Great Car so far

Have enjoyed the IONIQ 5 since getting it in September. Only have 1000 miles since I have a fractured tibia and my driving has been limited

Great vehicle - Until ICCU failure at 3.4k miles

I have loved every minute driving the Ioniq 5. It was very reliable and all features worked as expected. It’s performed decently in winter (I live in the upper Midwest) and charging has been a breeze. At 3.4k miles the ICCU went out and blew a fuse, and it has been sitting at a dealership since. It is unclear if this will be a one-time occurrence or if it will happen again but it calls into question its reliability for longer trips away from home. If it works out I am hopeful this will be my car for years to come and recommend it based on that, but your miles may vary.

Great car, poor user interface

The driving experience is superior to that of an ICE vehicle. It's quiet. I's comfortable. The accelleration is delightful, especially when trying to get away from poor dirvers. The handling is very good (the low center of gravity certainly helps). The car is a bit heavy but it is easy to get used to. The user interface is terrible. The warning beeps are all too frequent and rather irritating. Charging at home is hassle free. I have had issues at fast chargers, which leads me to take my wife's ICE vehicle on longer trips.

1st Hyundai Ionic 5

Overall great, but a few complaints: 1. worst wipers on a new car I have ever had, even day one leaves blurred or unwiped areas when warm or cold out. 2. When entering the accessory mode, it would be nice if an indicator told you that and how to leave it. 3. lut nut cover removal. I don't like lug nut covers, rims would be more stylish without them. Extremely hard to remove with the key ring tool, would be much better with a T-bar removal device so you can pull with both hands.

Punches above its weight in so many ways

Yes, this was a good value because I got the tax discount by leasing, but beyond that, what you get for what you pay is spectacular. From the tech, refinement, even power on the RWD model we have. It feels like a "wocket ship" to my 3 year old and that is all you need. The right combination of touchscreen and physical buttons. Interior seating space is epic and trunk space is decent. How you find better value I don't know.

So glad I traded up from a Tesla Model 3

Amazing car. I'm so pleased with this model. From how it drives (so smooth) to how accurately it calculates mileage until next charge (very), to how roomy it is (sooo roomy)! The seats are super comfortable, and unlike the Tesla, it handles rough roads with ease and clearance. Amazing car. AND... the color, which they call "teal" but is a beautiful green that changes depending on how you look at it, is fabulous!

Great Car! Fun to drive, very good interiors

Overall it's a great car. There are not much complaints. (1) The only thing i'd change is to have better trunk space, esp. under the mat so as to fit in all the emergency kit and cables. (2) When I start the car, the infotainment waits a few seconds for it to confirm me as a driver, as a single driver of the car, I find that annoying and taking away from my using CarPlay instantly. (3) I find that the estimated drivable miles on the charge changes after the car is shut down even for a minute.

Nice but not great

The car has nice features but they're not always easy to move through the features for the entertainment system. The battery drains quickly during the cold months and the charge is slow.
