Johnson 2025 Hyundai Tucson

I am mostly satisfied with my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. However, I do have one concern. The vehicle has the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system. The yellow Forward Safety warning light repeatedly turns on even when there are no other vehicles around me. This seems to occur primarily when I am driving towards the Sun. I have taken it to my dealership (Holler Hyundai in Winter Park, Florida) and was told the system is operating as intended. It is difficult for me to believe this system is functioning properly when it cannot detect the difference between another vehicle and the Sun. I have read multiple online comments from other 2025 Hyundai Tucson owners who have experienced the same issue. Hopefully Hyundai takes these comments seriously and implements a system update.

My 2026 Tucson

The '26 is my third Tucson and I've loved them all. This one, however, has had electronic problems that have yet to be solved. I have given up taking it to the dealer because the problems are protean and intermittent. I'm unsure of whether they are unique to my specific car or universal and have never gotten an honest answer.

Solid all-around SUV

I have driven several Hyundai vehicles over the last 7-8 years and the experience is always a pleasant one. It’s quality comfort and your 2025 Tucson model year does feature an impressive dashboard and info/entertainment system that does well to appeal to the fashionable & functional operator. The driver assistance/blind spot warning system is a tad over-zealous, especially when the experienced driver is navigating around rush hour traffic and congested roads, but I’ll look past that as it’s a nice feature to have. The lane keeping system is very useful for those long haul drives and maintaining a legal speed limit when the open road beckons. I will be very pleased with my Hyundai lease over the next few years and do plan on staying with the brand for many years beyond.

Engine issues

This is our 5th Tucson. I love how it drives and the features of the car. This will be our last one. The engine is not reliable. 2 of the cars had the engine replaced and this one is sucking up oil.

Worst car ever

Purchased car 01/2025 and I had to return 7x to dealership for maintenance issues. Issues vary from windshield worker not working to usb-c port to finger print.

Many useful safety features . Not sure older drivers need some of them. I have concerns about using the automated cruise control based on some comments I have seen on YouTube and have read about.

Great vehicle so far...But...

Past engine/transmission issues with Hyundai/kia are slightly concerning. But the overall value so far is excellent. Features, comfort and ride quality are outstanding.

Has the potential to be great

The two main concerns are 1- the super annoying "Driving Attention Warning" that can't be disabled and is super annoying, even on a 2 minute drive or driving in parking lots looking for a spot 2- the lack of power from the engine. The car feels slow (compared to a Kona turbo)

The Best Car I’ve Ever Had YET Almost Didn’t Buy...

When I needed a new car, I had a short list that did NOT include Hyundai. I was sure I’d end up with a Toyota, Mazda, or Subaru. I test drove quite a few models of each. When I walked away from each test drive, I was underwhelmed, not impressed, and generally had the reaction of, “meh…”. My sweet 84-year-old dad heard all about the test drives, the lackluster reviews, and the general thread of disappointment. He took off to “kick some tires” on his own. As I finished a disappointing day of test drives that felt too cramped in the drivers seat, had road noise that was too loud, and came with price tags that WAY exceeded the value of the vehicle, my dad called me to let me know I needed to head to our local Hyundai dealer where he had met a nice sales guy. I am pretty sure I sighed internally and possibly rolled my eyes. I definitely tried to get out of it. I was tired and disappointed. Dad convinced me it couldn’t hurt to look. Well, thank goodness for sweet dads who take the time to stop by and kick tires. I had absolutely no idea that Hyundai had such great vehicles, amazing warranties, and all the bells and whistles I thought would be outside of what I wanted to afford. My 2025 Tucson is my favorite. Heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, safety features that rival all other manufacturers, the ridiculously cool sun roof, the sound system, the cameras, lane assist, the features go on and on. What I think I love the most though is how surprised everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, who rides with me seems to be. What year model is this? You said it’s a Hyundai? Even the back seats have seat heaters?!? How expensive was this fancy car with all this cool technology? Your drivetrain warranty lasts how long? And on and on. I am a delightfully surprised Hyundai owner and one of the best sales people you've never had to hire. I genuinely LOVE my Tucson and plan to be a Hyundai driver for life.

Not the Tucson of Old

I bought my first Tucson in 2005, the first year it came out. Sold it in 2016 with over 250K miles on it. Never consumed or leaked oil or any other fluids. Maintained it as I should, changing oil every 3000 miles as well as keeping up with all other components and doing inspections and maintenance as required. Bought a Sonata in 2013 but didn't like it because it was a sedan and I had gotten used to an SUV so got a 2016 Tucson. Drove it 7200 miles and the DCT went out. Had it towed, fortunately service manager had it happen to him while unloading them off the transport truck. They kept it a couple of months before giving it back to me. I never fully trusted it again but drove it to 99,500 miles before a woman ran thru a stop sign and totaled it. Found a used 2013 Santa Fe Sport (with 105K miles) I bought paying cash (uneasy about driving a new car after the 2016 Tucson was totaled and also my 1997 Toyota Tacoma PU (also not my fault) because I was tired of people not caring and just running over people who do care about their vehicles. I still own it with over 246K miles and other than routine maintenance have never had a mechanical issue with it... it does not consume or burn oil or leak any other fluids. The thing that ticks me off about the 2013 Santa Fe Sport is the fact the white paint peels off, and Hyundai does nothing about it. It was happening to the previous owner, too. It infuriates me Hyundai refuses to acknowledge there is a problem with their white pearl paint! I've seen SO many white Hyundai vehicles that look absolutely horrible driving around with most of the paint missing. I can't believe Hyundai would allow such a thing! Still, I decided to purchase a new 2025 Tucson Limited in Nov 2025... mainly because I've driven them for 20 years and, for the most part, they've been decent vehicles. They are quiet and comfortable. This new Tucson is very pretty and has lots of features, especially safety. It is super quiet and rides well. The issue I've had, believe it or not, has been oil consumption. We are watching it closely. We've changed the oil twice.... once at 535 mi and again at 3751 mi. For Hyundai to say change the oil every 12 mos or 8000 mi is totally BS! They are just trying to force people to buy vehicles more often! There is absolutely NO way you can drive a vehicle that long or that far without changing the oil... you are asking for trouble! We will change the oil every 3000 mi checking it at least once a week in between oil changes if not more often. And we will use fully synthetic oil and OEM filters either purchased at a dealership or online. We will NOT be using the dealership even with the offer of free oil changes... the oil they use is crap and will only make matters worse. I hope Hyundai will step up and take care of the sub-par engines because their vehicles, except for the engine, is great. It's just the engine that sucks!
