Why I Traded my new BMW For A Hyundai Sonata
In 2013, won a new BMW but quickly traded it in to get a new Hyundai Sonata Hybrid! I had been researching hybrid vehicles and had decided on the Sonata when I won the brand spanking new BMW. After driving the BMW for a short while, I was not satisfied with the gas mileage (19mpg), buying premium gasoline, the small size, and the knowledge that I would have to start paying for the expensive maintenance in two years. The Sonata, on the other hand, gets 40mpg, requires a less octane gasoline, is roomy and comfortable, and requires a lot less maintenance!! It was a no-brainer for me - especially after hearing the whisper-quiet engine (actually, not hearing an engine to start the vehicle) and learning that the Sonata didn't require tune-up for 100K miles!!
The proof of my great decision came in 2015 when a nurse came to visit my mom in the exact BMW that I traded. When I stopped for a visit and asked if that was her BMW, she answered, "Yes,... you want to buy it?" She explained that the BMW was her dream vehicle but after paying to replace one of the tires two months after purchasing it, replacing two tires after four months, and with the sensors showing that ALL of the tires currently needing to be replaced, she said she just couldn't afford the car that required so much expensive maintenance!
Thanks, Hyundai, for making such a beautiful, efficient, and dependable vehicle! -- Dr. Bren
