Reliable and well equipped

The '23 Santa Fe is excellent in many ways but lacks in some, too. Calligraphy Trim has many options for comfort. The driver's seat settings program is great, as is the power front passenger seat, and heated/air conditioned seats in both front and back rows. The infotainment screen is convenient. The console placement of the functions and features makes them easy to operate for both passenger and driver. The leather upholstery is comfortable, easy to keep clean and attractive. The plastic cover on the backs of the front seats keeps them from getting damaged and dirty. The cargo area has ample storage for our 2 person household. The car has a lot of get up and go- sometimes it seems too responsive. It's easy to speed without meaning to. It can feel like it doesn't have good contact with the road, but nothing bad has happened. The camera coverage and warning system is excellent. If it wasn't available the car would have a lot of blind spots for parking, though. Now the complaints: the door compartments for storage are tiny and not convenient. It is difficult to go to a drive up window and reach down to use the banking drawers, ATM, or get food. Getting in and out of the front seats can be a challenge. It's easy to bump your head due to the slope of the door frame. The back seats are a bit easier. The mileage is acceptable. Wish it had a real spare tire, not a repair kit. The ride is passable, but not smooth. It could be quieter, too.

Hyundai Review

This Hyundai is a nice look. Buttons Buttons Buttons up, down, side, OH MY. Because of the button technology, sometimes the reaction time is a factor. Overall, I really like this vehicle and will keep it for a while longer. I also love the keyless entry!

Meh

I do love my Sonata, but I do not love the Santa Fe. It is never easy to get comfortable, and everything feels like plastic.

Car design

I love my car daily. However, the design of the rear bumper lacked the addition of a trailer hitch. The low location of the hitch now is poor. Look at U S car competition designs.

23 santa fe

Overall good experience, except for it not starting the other night for about 5 minutes. All the lights on the inside were flashing on and off like a power surge or shirt circuit was happening. Also hyundai screwed me on the residual/ payoff so with only 4 payments left, I cannot trade out of it. Other dealers say they can't pay it off and the value is less than the residual. Will never lease another hyundai!!! Better off with a Toyota, they hold value!!

Santa Fe Older is Better

First Santa Fe we had was new 2014. It had V-6 easy to use and understand, maintain. Hardly any problems with over 100K miles. Sold to grandkids, so still in family and doing well. We bought new 2023 Santa Fe with all kinds of extras we don't use because they are too complicated to understand. Every time there is an update installed, it deletes all our personal settings and we can't figure out how to reset. Has huge infotainment book, but way too complicated for senior citizens. I didn't even get a manual about the engine and other mechanical features, couldn't even find what kind of oil it used without going on line. How can you sell a $35K car that doesn't even have a manual for the engine, only the computer electronics?? I complained to the dealership and they said it was all on- line now. 2.2L turbo has problems. Had oil change at dealer and they either didnt put in new crush fitting plug or if they did, it failed. I reported to JD powers in review and the dealer never reached out. Leaked out 3 quarts of oil. When dealer put in new plug didn't replace lost oil and didn't change it even though were less than 1000m from needing a change. Mileage not great 25-27 mpg max, not as much power as old V6 which was discontinued by Hyundai. Don't like design of newer 2024-6, boxy and way too much electronic garbage. A computer with wheels that is fickle. I have lost faith in Hyundai if I ever need another car and don't recommend to others unless it is an older one with reasonable miles.

Good & Bad

We had bought a Sante Fe in 2010 brand new and love it, still driving it. You honored the 10 yr,. 100K warranty, although we had very little trouble with the vehicle. Then in 2024 when we saw you were completely changing the body style, we hated it. We went out and bought the last 2023 on the lot, luckily my wife loved the color and loves the 2023 Sante Fe.
