I am very disappointed with the truck because of the problem listed

I will never purchase or recommend a Hyundai to anyone, the reason is I purchased it new in 8/22 since that time the truck has lost power while driving it 4 times, once while pulling onto the highway, each time it happened I took a picture of the instrument panel where the word LIMIT showed until I restarted the truck, I showed the pictures to the dealership each time and there was nothing they could do, there was a first recall for this year truck, which said my truck was not affected, even though I'm having the same problem of what the vehicles of the recall were having Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Santa Fe, Sonata, Veloster N, 2022 Santa Cruz, Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles. The vehicle's "fail-safe" limited-mobility drive mode I'm a pretty level headed and common sense person, I don't understand why Hyundai does not stand behind there products, and let someone (me) drive a very unsafe vehicle.

Best Hyundai model yet!

I have owned and leased many Hyundais in 20+ years. The Santa Cruz is my favorite. I leased the limited package with turbo engine and the car is so fast! Looks super cool and so reliable. I need to turn it in for a new lease in August and I’m getting another Santa Cruz. It’s so functional with the small pick up in back and still a lot of interior room. The turbo engine though is a must! It feels like driving a sports car.

Love it BUT FIX THE CARPLAY,

I bought this vehicle because it appeared to check all the boxes for me. I have not been disappointed. I love everything about this vehicle. It exceeded all expectations EXCEPT for one oversight or ill informed decision. The Apple CarPlay will only connect wirelessly. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stay connected and sometimes will not reconnect. It frustrates me to no end. A simple fix could gain another star for my review.

Leaky boat!

I only have4,353 Miles on the 22 and there was a water leak on the drivers side from day one. Now the rug is soaked on the passenger side. Can't Hyundai at least make vehicles with better seals? My rugs should be replaced, electronics under the seat may be shorted out. not to mention MOLD. This is a very low mileage truckett. I'm retired and use it mostly for dr. appointments and shopping. I like the ride, don't want to be taken for one!

Do not purchase!

With 24k miles I needed a full engine replacement. Prior to that a cylinder misfired which prevented me to excel past 25 mph onto the highway. Radio dash display went out and gas tank door seized which both were replaced. #Lemons

I love it.

The Santa Cruz is the most comfortable vehicle, performing, and practical vehicle I have ever owned. I traded in a Kona for it. The Kona was great but I needed a change. I was and am so excited with the Santa Cruz

I love it. I have people stopping me at different locations while I'm stopped there to ask me what model and they love the color I have sage Gray they love the design and the color especially and ask me about the performance and I tell him it's great

Santa Cruz Turbo 2022

Great small truck. It has the power in traffic, the smooth comfort and great gas mileage, 16 in city driving and 28 highway. I like the backup camera, I still use mirrors but it is helpful to see behind the vehicle. The bed cover adds to a sporty look.

Surprising Comfort and Reliability

An incredibly comfortable ride with little or no Road noise. It is much quieter than our Toyota Rav4 Platinum and the engine is overlooked for it’s performance. I highly recommend the Santa Cruz for it’s reliability!

Don't buy

I have had a serious issue and Hyundai refuses to give me a new vehicle. When I first got it, I loved it. My friends and family loved it. But, since the tranmission error keeps coming on and the service people don't know how to fix it, I will never be comfortable in the Santa Cruz ever again.

DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE

I have had dangerous acceleration (loss of acceleration at entirely unpredictable times) almost since I bought the vehicle. It has had the transmission replaced, and the dealer's service team has 'topped off' the transmission fluid, which is Hyundai's only recommendation, yet the problem persists. Fortunately, I have not had a serious accident.

Worst experience

I only owned this vehicle for 10-11k miles. I has several transmission issues including a transmission issue not even a week after having the transmission replaced. I feel this vehicle is nothing more than an over warrantied unreliable failure.

slightly overpriced, in town gas milage is not the best. Need better quality control on fit of body panels. Need to include roof rails and gps as standard or at least as options, should be standard equipment.

It’s been a great car so far. Have really enjoyed it and would recommend this car to anyone.

Great car! It’s been very reliable with just a few minor grievances. Gas mileage has been very good. Haven’t been thrilled with the service department at the dealership I bought from or the parts department. When I first bought the car, I asked if I could get a 10% discount on a rear bed Matt and they said no, so I went and bought one from another dealer. Planning to buy another Huyandai but not from this dealer. I spent $40,000 and I couldn’t get $25 off on one accessory.

I absolutely love the truck!!! My only concern is that the trunk cover leaks and the dealership won’t fix it. I love the look and the comfort it has. I would recommend this truck to anybody that doesn’t want a big truck.

Some good-some bad

I'd like to give it 3.5 stars. The SEL is nice, not fancy but nice. I loved the concept of the short-bed pick-up on an SUV frame. I've had several things go wrong already. The dealer and the warranty were great. The car itself is basic comfort inside. For the money, I wish it was a bit nicer. You'd expect a little more from the SEL package. Gas mileage has been good, overall City/Highway has averaged about 24 MPG. My biggest complaint with this vehicle is the transmission. I've took it back to the dealer numerous times for a problem with acceleration. It's an intermittent problem and the dealer can't diagnose it without a code so the problem remains. I've been told by the dealer that it's "normal" driving but I shouldn't drive in SMART mode because there's a delay when it automatically switches to SPORT mode in dropping the RPM.s and slowing the car down. I'm sorry, I'm 60 years old and have owned 18 vehicles and driven well over a million miles... This is not normal and not good. My 2022 was the first model year for this car and hopefully they've worked out the kinks. I would NEVER think about buying this car without the turbo engine. I drove the 2024 with turbo, the top model and it was great, but if the top model isn't in your budget-I'd have a hard time recommending this model.

My Review

So far this has been a reliable vehicle which is very versatile and fun to drive. While material quality and some features (locking glove box, all doors unlocking at one as opposed to a a second click to open all besides the driver door on previous models) may be lower than previous Hyundai models we’ve owned it still is a decent value for the money.

Horrible vehicle. Horrible service, and no help at all.

Horrible dealer and no help from Hyundai. Never buy again.the vehicle simply fell apart. My dealer would not stand behind it and I got no help from Hyundai They told me they could do anything because the dealer was independent of them.

I absolutely love this vehicle. It only comes in second to my first car which was a 1970 Pontiac GTO. I have had people approach me in parking lots to ask what type of vehicle it is. They love the color and style.
