Good car, reliable and good pickup

Car is mostly reliable with few issues in 2 years. Needs longer driving range, only 220 miles, could use faster charging with supplied plug. Overall a good car, comfortable, quiet and fast pickup. Noisy and shakes with windows open though.

The Kona electric is a really good car, love not having to use gas, I have a 220 plug in my carport and plug it in a little over once a week, the regenerative braking is excellent. There are 3 driving modes, regular, eco, and really fast, I just use the eco because it regenerates the battery and I rarely have to use my brakes. We do have a gas vehicle but rarely drive it. If I would change anything I wanted leather seats but that came with a model that had a sunroof and some other items I did not want to pay extra for.

Horrible experience using the KONA EV SEL over 2 years now.

First, small battery died within 1st year, replaced by Hyundai service (Tracy). Lots of range reduction (about 50 miles) in winter/cold conditions. Also, after replacing tires in Jan 2025, range reduction by 50+ miles. I also stopped using the Mobile App as it became incompatible with my Android phone. Never used it after 1 year or so. In all, horrible experience with this vehicle, only reason I kept it because it was a lease.

A great little EV

Great Commuter Car

Great compact car. Had a lot of power for sport mode. I was very surprised about the amount of power the car had in sport mode. I love the shape of the car. Sound quality of entertainment system is decent.

this car is driving very nicely and has surprised us with ranges.

We like the car's handling on the road, in the traffic and in garage and tight spaces. We dislike that headlights started going out and difficult to remove/replace before is even three years old. We wish the car had roof rack rails as we like to take the car on the trips and it is clearly not a very large car, so extra storage is needed. The interior, especially the floors and carpets are not easy to clean. We love the distinctive noise the car makes at slow speeds. We also enjoy the bluelink functionality. Couple problems with bluelink: 1. it very often takes long time to obtain car location and 2. it often misreports that the car is unlocked especially after charging is completed.

It’s was good waiting for it to be better

I like the idea of having buttons for the gear switch but I don’t think it was placed in the best, I also think if the charging port was in the side of the car rather in the front like normal gas cars.

Small but mighty

Kona EV: very efficient, good range, charges well. SE is pretty basic, missing heated steering wheel/backseats. Not comfortable for road trips. Good visibility, buttons (!) for climate, stereo, seats.

Great compact EV

The car has been very energy efficient and reliable. I typically achieve about 5.5 miles per KWH, which I am very pleased with. The cons is the car is very small and the rear seat really isn't big enough for three adults

The car is small and basic, but drives nicely and has a very good charging range when set on "Eco" mode. It handles well and is very peppy and responsive. It is a great car for around-town trips. We've had no service or repair issues.

Great little SUV

Good looking small SUV with very good features and charge range. Very nice to have a “Tesla” plug outlet, as well as the other industry standard. Very good acceleration and maneuverability, and overall design and quality finish.

Poor on every aspect

Everything was bad from the start and hasn’t got any better I tried to get out of this car but the resale value isn’t there to get rid of it biggest car mistake I’ve ever made I wish I could back out of this deal the dealership was terrible also!!!

2023 Hyundai Kona EV is among the best EVs available

The Hyundai Kona EV is the best compact SUV EV you can buy. The range is among the best and the charging speeds are adequate, though not as fast as other newer EVs. The Kona has good options on the trim levels but even the highest trim level for 2023 was still considerable below $50K, making it one of the best values in EVs. You may pay more money for other EVs and probably still get less range. The included safety features make the car a "best value."

2023 Kona EV Lease

Leased a Kona EV 3 months ago. Not a high mileage driver but occasionally need to go 200 miles in a day and this car definitely handles it. Have been able to get 4.8 miles/kwh with some highway driving, but mostly city driving. Still getting used to driving in winter temps and seeing how the battery holds. Overall - with many charging options nearby, I have found I may plug in for one night a week to keep charge above 50%...otherwise, I have some free Level 2 charging options which have helped a ton. Responsive, fun car to drive, for sure!
