Good but compromise

I am leasing this vehicle. Consistently it has failed to reach the estimated range. The winter range is terrible. However the car is comfortable in most driving conditions and is well equipped. This would make a great in-town commuting vehicle or a great first car for a young driver but not suitable for any long distance travel.

Great car overall, but not-great charging curve on road trips

This is the perfect daily driver and would even be great for traveling up to ~4 hours away, but the charging curve is not ideal and adds significant time to DC fast charge for longer journeys. My only other small gripe is that it does not come in AWD and I wish it accelerated a bit faster.

Great range for the price. Comfortable. Spacious. High quality interior for the price. Great, reliable technology. User-friendly technology. My only identified opportunity for improvement is the range (which is still decent for the price) and the DC charging speed.

My first EV and I love it

I've had it for almost 2 years, I'm retired so I mainly use it around town, no trips over 100 miles and it has been a great car. Its about time for its first checkup, no other maintenance has been required. I charge it from solar so it's cost me almost nothing to drive. I would purchase it again, sorry to hear it will be discontinued in the US going forward.

Kona is a blast to drive and super-economical

Love the size and features, a bit more road and vibration noise than my other car (Subaru Outback), but understandable based on its size. Best report I can provide is that I've had ZERO costs for maintenance (consisting of only rotating the tires) over the past two years of ownership and my estimated cost savings in gas is $750-$1,000 for that period of time.

Fun to Drive except in Winter

I love the Kona except in the snow. The front wheel drive does not give sufficient traction or control particular on even modest driveway inclines. I hope to at least partially address this issue by installing snow tires next winter. On value for money, the (since discontinued) federal $7,500 rebate made the purchase decision easy to make. The failure of the energy control system was disappointed and hard to get identified and rectified though it was fixed after months of waiting.

Fun and economical car, poor customer support

I love my Kona's zippy acceleration, one-pedal driving and missing ICE. However, I've found the customer support poor.

Very Happy Overall- needs some minor tweaks

needs heated steering wheel, parking and lane alerts are too sensitive, the car is slow, otherwise great car!

A good EV for the money

Given the price I paid, for a KONA SEL EV, this car was a very good purchase. This car needs a more efficient heat pump. It works OK, but it eats really eats kWh. Hyundai should silence the alert noise when the vehicle is stopped. It would be so nice if the cabin noise generated by the car was minimized or better yet, was eliminated. I've been to the dealer with problems, and I think the dealer's diagnostic capability needs improvement. Too bad Hyundai has dropped the KONA EV except for the base model, which has a minuscule battery. I hate the retro look on the Ioniq5 so I wouldn't buy one.

Kona EV review

I like the car itself. However, I have had issues with the car since I bought even going back to engineering with no solution except drop it off for over 6 months. If I wanted to buy a car and leave it at a dealership that doesnt do any work I would've went somewhere else. My car still reads -56 days and counting a service is due i have to reset my maint clock after every service. My car wont start if I schedule the climate control and some other issues.
