Hyundai Ioniq 6 Owner Review

I’ve been driving the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and overall, I think it’s an excellent car. The torque and speed are standout features — it’s quick off the line and fun to drive especially when merging onto the highway. The range, which typically falls between 260 to 275 miles, works just fine for my needs. I also have an in-home charger, so charging overnight is convenient and eliminates most of the range anxiety. That said, the public charging infrastructure still leaves a lot to be desired. It's improving slowly, but it's not quite where it needs to be yet, especially for longer road trips. A few quirks keep it from being perfect. The window switches are placed in the center console rather than on the doors, which means I often have to glance down and search for them — not ideal when you’re trying to keep your eyes on the road. Also, the right-side windshield wiper can’t be lifted when washing the windshield, which is oddly frustrating. Still, those are minor complaints in the grand scheme. I really enjoy this car and would definitely choose the Ioniq 6 again. Hyundai has done a great job overall.

The Ioniq 6 is a much better vehicle than I expected.

I leased the Ioniq 6 as an around town daily driver. My expectations were not great, but I know that Hyundai is very experienced at building cars, so I took a chance. I have never before owned or dealt with an electric powered vehicle. I have been pleasantly surprised. Last bought a cheap Hyundai in 1990 for our daughter to drive to and from High School in a new, reliable vehicle. The car was very functional, but basic and really cheap. Today's Hyundai has little to do with that car.

Fun and easy-driving, the IONIQ 6 excels in what I need it to be

The car isn’t perfect, and maybe waiting another year for the newer model might’ve been a more beneficial choice. With that said, the 2024 IONIQ 6 is the electric car I’ve been dreaming of since high school, and I’m proud to drive one daily.

Ever want to feel special? Now is your chance.

Before 2020, I had never paid $20K or more for a car. I don’t like to spend money so it’s hard to say that a $55K car is a good value for the money. However, I will say that there is a lot to love about this car. I was enamored with this vehicle and then throw in that it’s offered in my favorite color (green) and that made it hard to deny. I had been doing my research on EVs … range, reliability, charging speed, expected battery life … the Ioniq 6 had better than average range, one of the speediest for charging, coupled with it being a sporty sedan with a roomy interior. It was hard to deny. Of course with it being my first EV, I had battery anxiety. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. These feelings melted away. With the free charging station installed in my garage and free charging at my office, I was set up well. Road trips were the next hurdle but after mapping out my trips, again, my concerns melted away. The car handles beautifully, is loaded with safety features and had my dream feature - ventilated seats. Ahhhhhh! And let’s talk about pickup, even in eco mode, I can beat nearly every one off the line … in sport mode, forget about it! I also love the regenerative braking. Unless I have to come to a complete stop, it’s one pedal driving as I rarely use the brakes. Is there room for improvement, always but it is a pretty darn impressive vehicle.

Fantastic driving experience.

This car is so much fun to drive, that I offer to pick up friends every time we go somewhere. The pickup is immediate, the drive is smooth, and there is an incredible amount of passenger space even with my driver's seat all the way back. I'm not quite sure why, but the car seems to stay clean all the time, even after getting rained on. It is either the design of the car, the paint job, or the sealer that the dealer applied when I purchased it.

First few months with Ioniq 6 LTD

Fast and comfortable, with more bells and whistles then you can imagine. While it has amazing safety features, it also has a design issue that could cause safety problems. The way the back window is designed allows rainwater to just sit there when you are driving (it doesn't roll off) making for poor rear-view visibility. Also, the side windows do the same thing. The one big flaw with this car (or at least my car). Charging is smooth and fast. All in all, I am happy with the purchase.

no wireless carplay/android auto

Great car. It feels sturdy, it has lots of leg room in the back seat area, and I love the ambient lights. However, I wish the vents in the back were stronger and ultimately, I believe in this age, there should already be wireless capability for carplay and android auto. It feels prehistoric for a car at this price to not have that. The dashboard system software feels a bit laggy, too - especially compared to Tesla.

Best car I've owned

My 1st electric vehicle! Great acceleration. Quick charging. Love that someone actually made a good electric sedan. Very reliable so far. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't want a compact SUV like the rest of the US.
