Great Alternative to the Model 3

Best EV car this side of the Model 3 — I recommend the SEL trim level since it is the best balance of features for the money. Lease deals on this car are fantastic and the car delivers as promised in terms of comfort, especially rear seat leg room, drivers seats with ventilation and heated seats are great. Interior is a good balance between current and futuristic design and I like it more than the IONIQ 5 interior. Design is great even given some of the hard materials and led lighting is well thought out. Driving dynamics are really good but could be a bit more sporty. The Porsche inspired design elements are appreciated and rear of the car looks great at night. Think poor man’s Panamera in terms of size and space. Build quality is good overall but there is one minor buzz near the front door speaker. This is definitely a car that I would recommend for folks new to EVs. Charging is quick and with NACS adapter charging is not an issue. The cons to this car are pretty minor overall and they have to do with using the OTA software more effectively to update software feature content and more rigorous software programming of the infotainment and driving dynamics system. Folks coming from Tesla cars may have a hard time adjusting to crude software features and the need to adjust settings repeatedly since they are reset when the car is turned off and shifting from park to drive. The regen paddles are a nice touch but should not have to be used as much as they are. The high regen setting works great on regular streets but on the highway starts to feel like someone left the emergency brake partially engaged. Seems like switching from i-pedal mode to regen setting 3 on the highway should be seamless. Another minor gripe — Sport mode should always be the default setting and that setting should be stored in driver profile settings. Voice command software needs minor improvement and the Hold operation needs to be refined to feel seamless when bring the car to a stop. Please make the blind spot cameras standard on all trim levels like Tesla. May want to offer glass roof on sunroof on top end model. There is only one “bad” to this car — the navigation system software is laughably bad and will get you lost. Somehow ours switched into “avoid highways” when coming back home from the ATL airport which can only be described as tragic when driving around metro Atlanta since we couldn’t figure out how to turn the setting off. Hyundai please junk it and use a Google or Waze based system. For potential buyers always use smartphone based navigation as a backup to this system until Hyundai pushes a major update to this. All in all this is a great car and great EV. I would give it 4.5 stars if possible. If Hyundai keeps developing it, refining it, and keeps it at a price point just under the Model 3 it is a home run and a no-brainer. Hyundai please give it the social media and general media exposure this car deserves because it could be the equivalent of the what the 3rd generation Accord was to Honda — its that good!

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL Review

Very smooth, powerful and fun to drive. I'm fairly tall and wish the telescopic steering wheel extended about another 4-6 inches. For now, I have to extend my arms straight or move my seat up and crunch my legs up against the drive selector and dashboard. The interior is aesthetically pleasing but the materials are a little to hard plastic, and cheap feeling. I wish there were more traditional display options above the wheel like a circular speedometer and tachometer (yeah, I get it's an EV). I miss not having wireless Apple CarPlay and using a older USB 2.0 seems like an unnecessary swing and a miss - would be better if it was USB 3.0. Absolutely amazing leg room in the back seats - well done. I'll finish the 2-year lease on this vehicle but wouldn't opt to keep it.

Best car I have ever driven!

It has the pick-up of a sports car; it is quiet, the ride is smooth. The features and controls are well thought-out and the interior is well-appointed. if I have one criticism it's that there's so much to learn to master everything the car has to offer, that I still am consulting the guide and learning something new every day.

Fast, Smooth, and Fun

This car is an incredible first electric car for me. It’s fast as hell, drives so smoothly, and has amazing safety features. I love that it adjusts when I start to veer onto a line. It course-corrects and has smart cruise control. It’s like a spaceship inside with the ambient lighting. Love it.

Fun Car, Reliable

Have enjoyed the Ioniq 6 for the last year. It’s a fun car, reliable, and has a pretty decent range to a “full” charge. It’s easy to service, and I’ve been fortunate to not have any issues so far.

2024 Ioniq 6- first time electric driver

Great daily driver, and FUN to drive. Quick in and out. Only con is not being able to disable the “take a break” and speed limit voice alerts that turn down your music. Other than that, excellent vehicle. Very sick looking as I’ve had people ask if it’s a Porsche 👀

Excellent car, almost perfect!

I love the Ioniq 6, it’s comfortable, capable, has long range, and fast charging. It’s nearly a perfect car, but it has a few things that keep it from being perfect. 1) No wireless apple car play 2) No way to force battery pre conditioning 3) No way to lock the vehicle from the outside while it’s on 4) The car re locks the doors after a time even when unlocked from the physical key

Great introduction to electric techmology

I was somewhat apprehensive in making the transition to fully electric but the Ioniq 6 made it easy. Good range, intuitive technology, ,comfort and all wheel drive security make the driving experience fun and enviormmentally impactful.. I will mevdr go back to gas

Underwhelming

It's quiet, comfortable, and stylish. It also never gets the range that is advertised. Winter shock set in this past year when the range was abysmal. I have a level 2 at home so I was never going to be at zero, but last winter I was charging way too often and now that gas prices are down, I'm definitely not saving any $$$ when I'm charging every day. And worst of all I've been through 4 tires in 18000 miles. 2 blowouts and 2 bubbles. Been driving over 30 years and only had one tire with a bubble on my my other vehicles. Glad I bought the tire insurance. But it's a major inconvenience as this vehicle did not come with a spare.
