Underwhelming

The Ionic 6 is a very sleek looking car, it's fun to drive, and it has a lot of "wow" factors that I like. At the same time, though, there are a handful of fundamental flaws that have made me very glad that I'm only leasing the vehicle and not purchasing it. This is my first EV, and the change in range expectations between summer and winter is unbelievable; it feels like I'm driving two totally different cars. In the summer, my range prediction at full charge is over 335 miles - which is impressive. I don't think I get *anywhere* close to that in reality, and I don't trust that range prediction one bit. But, in the winter, all bets are off. I feel like I'm charging my car multiple times a week, and I don't even drive much. Beyond that, the car doesn't feel built super well: things are constantly rattling on the inside, particularly in the center console space. Also, this car not coming equipped with Apple Car play, despite older, less expensive cars having it standard, is a huge disappointment. The fact that this car requires a dongle adapter or cord to get CarPlay is disappointing. More than once, too, the seatbelts have become stuck while extended, which is annoying.

Smooth, Futuristic & Surprisingly Fun

The 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 exceeded my expectations. The design is sleek and futuristic, and it turns heads everywhere I go. Iccu issues

The vehicle is fantastic, I've added a speaker system but the biggest downside is the ICCU failure at just under 60k. No warning just stranded at work and the dealership had no loaners so I had to eat the cost of the rental while I waited a little over 3 weeks (2 for repair, 1 for additional repair due to coolant line needing to be reburped)

Great car with a few learning opportunities

Mechanically and 99% of the time, this car is great. Ride is smooth, surprisingly quick even in Eco mode, I get around an estimated 350 miles range at 95% charge. Spacious enough for four adults to sit comfortably. My only complaints have to do with the interior styling. A) the front seat belts frequently catch on clothing when getting out of the car, resulting in a seat belt getting shut in the door or the buckle preventing the door from closing. I'm not sure if a slightly different attachement point on the pillar or stronger uptake spring on the belt would fix that. B) the right side edge of the dash is basically a reinforced tablet-thick piece of plastic that regularly clips my knees getting in or out, especially if a shorter person moved the seat after servicing. The lower corner could be softened and less angular to flow with the larger styling of the dash C) Glass Cockpit designs look great, but climate controls being on either a touch screen or a smooth touch-reactivr panel requires taking eyes off the road to adjust heat or AC.

Constant unresolved electrical issues

The vehicle itself is wonderful, but I’ve had numerous electrical issues that have been unresolved that have ruined my faith in Hyundais electric vehicles. I have consistently had a “Check EV SYSTEM” light on in my car for the two years I’ve had it, that still haven’t been resolved despite being brought in 3 separate times. Along with this failures in the accessories, 12 volt, and horn. The car truly is a nice comfortable drive, but with electric issues I can’t recommend.

Needs Work

Two recalls and one unintended "pull-over immediately and tow to dealership" error message(cost three weeks of repair by dealer because so many vehicles in need?). Plus one tire continually needs air.

It’s a lemon.

The software is a nightmare. It’s no wonder Hyundai is discontinuing this trim. When you press a button on the touchscreen, there’s a ~2 second delay, and the car is constantly beeping, even when there are no hazards near. You can try to turn off all of the alerts, but it will still beep constantly.

Solid car when avoiding common problems

I love the design and experience. However, I cannot live with complete faith in this car until the infamous ICCU failure is addressed properly. It prohibits me from 100% recommending the E-GMP cars to others and especially a non-EV Hyundai, as the design and feel of the IONIQ 6 is the only thing that sells me on this brand. This issue needs to be addressed for the longevity of the Hyundai EV market.

Only one problem in two years

The car has been extremely reliable and drives very well. It had one problem where the ICCU control unit failed and needed to be replaced. The main complaint is that it took over a week to get the replacement part and the car was unavailable for that time.
