My First EV - Wow!

My Ioniq 5 SEL is pretty darn lovable. Here are things I really like -- Over 300 miles of range. Less than 30 minutes for a full charge at a fast charge station. Zoom, zoom acceleration comparted to my old ICE. Modern safety features that every Boomer needs and should want. Lots of room inside. Some kinks that I'm still working on -- Driver seat comfort setting. Backup collision alert volume level. A final note, why doesn't every Ioniq 5 come with automatically retracting side mirrors and a tonneau cover in the hatchback area? C'mon Hyundai.

My Ioniq5

The car's overall performance is very good. However, when looking at some of the details, there is room for improvement. The communication between the app and the vehicle is somewhat slow, although it functions reliably. The car's maneuverability in tight spaces is also not ideal. Compared to other EVs we have driven, this vehicle requires wider turning radiuses, making it more difficult and time-consuming to navigate or exit confined spaces. It often requires multiple back-and-forth adjustments to complete a maneuver. The camera and proximity warning system could be more accurate. The system begins beeping when the vehicle is still relatively far from an object, even after adjusting the warning distance settings. It also continues beeping for some time after the vehicle has moved a safe distance away from the obstacle. This behavior raises concerns about how the vehicle would respond in an actual emergency situation and whether the automatic braking system would intervene appropriately. The driving range continues to surprise us, often showing unexpected increases. While this is encouraging, it also creates some uncertainty. I am concerned that during a long trip, the displayed remaining range could suddenly decrease significantly, potentially affecting trip planning and charging decisions. Overall, the car is very comfortable, quick, and enjoyable to drive. It offers many useful features for both drivers and passengers, making it a highly enjoyable vehicle despite the areas that could be improved.

car has a mind of its own

Most of the time I have to hit three or four buttons to change from my husband to my driver and a lot of the time it still doesn't work right. I just went out to it in the garage where my husband left it opened and it locked itself. A week or so ago we had about 6 or 8 updates, which continualy lost apple CarPlay and when I plugged it in to charge it started to charge immediately because our timed charge had gotten turned off. I personally wish we had never bought this Ioniq 5.

It’s my second Ionic 5!

This is my second Hyundai ionic five and I love it as much as my first. I like the changes that have been made for the comfort, particularly in the backseat and the handling is still Superior.

The Ioniq 5 is sturdy, well made, very comfortable, and easy to drive, with some caveats (too many screen options, constant messages, and way too much auto-drive control, for example).

Very nice car, some minor things needed

We are happy with the car. I have two complaints: It beeps a lot. Too much. The electric car manufacturers need to get together and put the charge port in the same place. Using Tesla chargers is a pain because it's on the opposite side. It doesn't matter, just do it the same.

My favorite car I've ever owned

After driving for the past 30 years I've own many different vehicles, from V8 sports cars, minivans, sedans, and trucks. Of all the vehicles I've owned, i never thought I'd enjoy driving car that doesn't "shift" or make engine noises. Well, with the Ioniq 5 SEL RWD the car was really everything great to me. Plenty of storage, plenty of power, and the amazing convenience of charging at home. In 3 months, I've only charged the car 3 times away from home, mainly for a longer trip, and one emergency trip. But other than that, I plugged it into my dryer outlet in the garage once a week, and get my full charge. Honestly I'm totally hooked on EV's. While my wife and kids take their cars for dealer oil changes and maintenance, I get to skip all that and just drive my car. I love this car.

Dash is TERRIBLE

Please provide a software update that lets a driver have an odometer gauge IN THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I have been awarded a terrible speeding ticket because the digital speed in the factory setting is to the far left and obstructed by the steering wheel. I am sure the judge will not care about that when I have to GO TO COURT because I was not able to see the speed of the vehicle. This vehicle also accelerates MUCH FASTER than it should. The speed jumps 10 MPH by barely pushing the pedal.

I love it

I went from a Mercedes to a Hyundai and don’t miss the Mercedes at all. The totally electric is perfect for me. I don’t generally drive far, although I did take a 250 mile trip on one charge last week with no problem. Most days I come home and plug in to my home charger connected to my solar panels. I love driving on sunshine !
