WOW!

Just WOW! What a pleasure to drive...Longer range than my GV60 & I'm more than satisfied with my RWD Limited vs the AWD. My only gripe is the visibility of the a/c controls during the day particularlry when wearing sunglasses, which as all we do in Florida...

2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL AWD

At 2537 miles I will say this is a really great and fun car. It’s cool looking, plenty fast, has a really good range and is a really smooth comfortable ride. Only negatives are: no phone key, no auto lock, and no steering wheel warmer. But I can live with those. Quite a bit superior to the Tesla model 3 I previously leased.

An EV with class...

Well-built car with plenty of quickness. Range (RWD) is just enough for daily commute. Stylish retro look without being too boxy. Seats are very comfortable and wife appreciates the front passenger seat has the same controls as the driver. The visor actually works for her because she can raise her seat! However, the steering column is too busy and the paddles could be dispensed with. With steering wheel in comfortable position the instrument panel is blocked from view. The complaints are nits and I would definitely buy this vehicle again!

So many great things, but a few weird ones.

It's a very comfortable and well-designed car overall. But it has a few quirks, and I can't help but feel that the Kona Electric did some things better. I love how it drives, but the Kona handled more neatly, and had better pick-up, as well as a tighter turn radius. And the steering wheel started to squeak after a month of owning it. I also preferred real buttons on the control panel, as opposed to the touch-sensitive ones on the Ioniq. Buttons are easier to find by touch when you're driving and your attention needs to be on the road. Plus, the reflective nature of the surface of the panel makes it VERY hard to find an icon when it's sunny out! Also, I don't understand the point of a Vista Roof. It's really only for the people in the back seat to enjoy. And as it can't be opened, you can't let any of the hot air out if the car has been parked in the sun. Plus, the fabric that is pulled back and forth to cover the Vista Roof interior is so thin that it heats up in the sun, making the ceiling of the car hotter, and thus the cab of the car more prone to heat up, whereas the Kona's Moonroof was thicker and a more useful cover. All that said, it's a very comfortable car to sit in and the controls are mostly very intuitive. I love that the side mirrors can fold in at the touch of a button. And the cooled seats are wonderful! Plus, having a Tesla-style charging port seems a more practical idea for the moment, as they're all over the place, at least in California. However, I will say that the one time I tried to use one the car wouldn't charge. I have yet to try it again, and have defaulted to EV-style chargers using the provided adapter when I can't charge at home (but I love that there's a full range of adapters that come with the car!).

Ioniq 5 Limited is Great

Ioniq 5 Limited is peppy and fun to drive. I particularly like the mechanical controls that many cars are eliminating. The infotainment system is well organized and intuitive, and overall the car is quite comfortable.

Quirky and fun, in mostly good ways

I had a few non-negotiables for my next EV: Have a phone-based key, one-pedal driving, NACS charge port. What I eventually found in the Limited trim was all of that plus a bunch of tech and comfort features that make the car an excellent value. My previous EV's have been Leaf's and Teslas (S, 3, Y). The build quality is solid, no rattles or squeaks, no misaligned panels. The matte paint is pretty great, even if it does require more care. The only negatives is that it does not remember your drive mode (anything other than sport is lame), or the regen level (one-pedal is the only "right" choice). It would also be nice if it locked when you walked away from it. The acceleration curve is also not very smooth, especially in reverse which is not precise because of the lack of one-pedal and sticky hold functionality. Once you get out of those start-up quirks, it's fun to drive.

I love my Ioniq 5

This car is all that I hoped it would be. It's quiet and comfortable to drive, has good visibility, and great safety features. The only missing thing I wish it had is a sunglasses holder.

I like my 2026 Ionique 5. I like its appearance, the way it drives and its EV range. What I don’t like is the lower display screen - the icons are impossible to read if it’s dark outside. I have increased the display light to its maximum per the manual’s instructions. My sales person was not able to help me beyond the manual’s instructions. I have complained to Hyundai previously but have not gotten a response. I’m disappointed. I consider this to be a safety hazard. I am 79 years old but my eyesight is good. My wife has the same complaint. She also has good eyesight.

Maybe I got a bad one?

I have had nothing but problems since purchasing this car since buying this car in July. Half the electronics work intermittently on the passenger side. Side mirror won’t open, door handles won’t open or close , charging door won’t open and digital rear view doesn’t work. Been trying to get it fixed for over a month and the dealership hasn’t been helpful. Wish I never switched from Honda.

As Expected

Having just rolled past 3,000 miles, my experience has been what I had hoped. Efficiency has been pretty spot on. Comfort and ride quality is great. Software has some issues, but hopefully that's a work in progress. My biggest gripe is with the charge schedule and how easily the plastic panels scratch.
