Its fine. I used to drive an older model and it was much more seamless. This 2025 version has issues with charging at electrify america stations (adapter overheats) , limiting you to tesla stations for fast charging. It also honks loudly when locked or unlocked. On older cars there is an option to turn this off in menu or with the keys. Neither is available for this car. Theres also an alarm system that will leave your car deadlocked if anything glitches. Its happened to me twice. Luckily the second time I was able to get out and lock and unlock the car enough to allow the ignition to engage. Basically I’ll be happy when I give it back. But it’s a blessing to have a vehicle so these complaints aren’t serious. The model is just a poor comparison to the older model.

My 2025 Ionic5 was 5 weeks old when it was destroyed in an accident. I replaced it with a 2026. My only disappointment with the new model is that the side mirrors do not fold in when locked. The 2025 did.

Great car with one big issue

Love everything about the car except the fact that the driver cannot read the temp controls on a sunny day. No matter what is adjusted the attention of the driver must be taken away from driving to try to discern the climate screen.

The car is great. It has good range with the current battery technology. The tech inside is very good even on the sel trim. The seats are comfortable and the heated functions are amazing in the winter. My true only down side to why only a 4 is like other car manufacturers the need to collect the telemetry data which includes gps location, driving habits, who is driving, from drivers. Hyundai was recently hacked like any big company. This is a perfect example as to why they should not have this data. Other than that the car drives great and has very good acceleration. The space is the car offers is amazing

The best car I have ever driven after 48 years of car ownership

The Ioniq 5 is the best car I have driven in my 48 years of driving. It is attractive, reasonably well built, comes with all the features I need in a car. Most importantly the electric drive train is amazing. If you have not driven one take one out for a test drive. I am pretty confident you will be hooked and will not want to drive an internal combustion engine again. The acceleration is pretty impressive considering it is not billed as a fast car. The smoothness and quietness of the engine and car are exhilarating. My wife and I both live driving the Ioniq 5 EV and are always looking for excuses to take it out. We are both pretty confident we will be upgrading to another Hyundai model or the newest Ioniq in a couple of years when the technology takes the next leap forward.

great experience so far, despite a few technical hiccups

I love this car, I love driving it, I love the styling, I could use a tinge more “mood” lighting in a few places but overall it’s been my favorite Hyundai.

Ionic 5 XRT review after 1000 miles

Almost perfect car, has issue - noticeable vibration at highway speeds, taking to dealership next week to check and hopefully get it fixed.

A mix of things that I enjoy and hate. Useful car either way.

I'm happy that we leased and did not buy. We get a lot of use out of it driving around two young kids and commuting. I'm happy it's in our life right now, but wouldn't buy one for long term ownership. There's too much hassle around preferences and driver profiles (cant change while driving?!?!?). The infotainment is so close to being great, but feels more like an odd collection of features and preferences vs a consistent/intentional experience. I was really excited to use the customized buttons, but then realized they only showed things I had zero interest of using quickly. I've enjoyed one pedal driving and some of the smart cruise control, but really do not like the lane management. It seems incapable of following smooth curves and just bounces between the edges of the lane. I wouldn't trust it in wet conditions. Overall space inside is good, but realizing I'd prefer the rear to be squared off for more storage. Wide opening side doors are useful sometimes, but just not in any parking lot. I'd love this car with more of a Mazda 5 (micro-van) vibe. Give me sliding doors and as much interior space as humanly possible. The rear storage area is much more of a hassle when trying to determine if stuff fits. I shouldn't have to think this hard to use a trunk.

This car is amazing!

This car offers a smooth ride, great pickup, and long distance range. Outstanding! And it is sexy, as well. I am still getting used to some features, and I wished I had had a little more briefing on how to use some of the features, but youtube is helpful in that regard. Being able to use Tesla superchargers without an adapter is a great feature. I only wish it had come with the J1772 adapter for use at other public charging sites. But those are small quibbles with what is really an outstanding car.
