Overall impressive car. Wish the controls were more intuitive and the driver’s seat went back further. Also the CarPlay link is wonky.

Only two complaints. (And one really minor one)

After two months of driving, I will say I mostly love my ioniq 5. The door handles popping out when the doors are unlocked is a safety concern for me, and the low speed braking is awkward at best. And for some reason the split console for sirius xm shows completely useless information by default, though i am unsure if that is something hyundai has control over.

Great vehicle with some annoying quirks

Love this car, it completely sold me on EV’s. It could be a flawless car if usability related design choices were made in the controls.

Charm to Drive

Excellent comfort and also boasts excellent driving visibility, making for a pleasant experience both in the driver's seat and for passengers. Very good legroom in the rear. The only notable drawback is the tight steering radius, which could make maneuvering in confined spaces (like parking lots or U-turns) slightly challenging.

Car is great. I would like a better organized center console (lower). Just a big open space, no security. I would like a NFC card. Key fob is ridiculously big and can’t be locked in car. I want to have a second access to car besides phone.

Great vehicle but paint is flawed

I love this car and everything about it but received it from the dealership with flawed paint. It has been a bit of a nightmare to get it fixed. They want it for "several weeks" to send it to an outside vendor to get it fixed. It has a huge paint drip on the back door from the factory.

Generally positive, a few things are annoying but not dealbreakers

Our 2013 Prius V died and we bought a 2025 Ioniq 5 right before rebates expired in Sept 2025, so the price ($38,000) was exceptional. We love that it is an EV and have taken in on a few long rides up and down California. Charging has never been an issue; at Superchargers you don't even need an adapter, it just plugs right in. At home, we have 220/40 amp charger that easily charges fully overnight. While true of gas cars too, you see that going 70 is a lot less fuel efficient than driving 60. The back seats lie flat and you can easily sleep in the back. We like that the screen is not so huge like many other cars (looking at you Tesla). We had rented a Tesla, and hated that we were always hitting our heads getting in. This is NOT an issue with the Ioniq 5. Here's a partial list of things that annoy us: the doors are well made and heavy (as older people, we worry as we get older the doors will seem even heavier); console (the space between the two front seats) is not efficiently designed; the prompting causes my wife to call the car "a grumpy old man", you can be just slightly to the side in the lane and it will ping and tell you to consider a coffee break, at times it doesn't seem to recognize that you are looking ahead, etc; the turning radius is not as good as the PriusV was.

Mostly great, some issues

Mostly this car is amazing. However, I've now had the car for 4 months and I still find that the mileage estimates aren't very accurate. Often, I can go further than expected (which is great), however sometimes I can go less far, which is problematic, and does lead to trust issues.

I love this car!

Everything about the ioniq5 is amazing… except one. The washer for rear wiper does not work. The motor works but no fluid comes out. This is from day 1. I understand this is an ongoing issue. Resolve it, Please!

First Time EV Driver

This is my first time owning an EV and I love having the IONIQ. Being able to charge at home and never worry about fuel is game changing, and it drives so smoothly. I find myself wanting to go for drives just for fun, something I have never wanted to do in the past. It's a fantastic car and I've been converted to an EV driver for the foreseeable future.

The most annoying high quality car.

Love the performance, drive quality, build quality, and use of space. The issue with the car is that it's often hostile to the daily user. It can straight up be annoying to use. For example, you have to manually engage full one pedal driving every time you turn the car on. That's annoying on it's own, but it's even more annoying that the car will constantly tell you when you're allowed to turn that feature on or off. Another annoying feature: the pointless user profile. Takes forever to confirm the profile for some reason and despite having a user profile, you still need to manually put the car in to the desired setting. Every. Single. Time. If I turn my iPhone off and turn it back on, my user settings remain the same. Not this car, you have to manually tell it what you want it to do every time you start it. Then the everyday quirks that are everywhere. Want to skip forward in a song? You have to push a button backwards for some reason. In korea, I guess backwards means forward? It has out of screen climate control (YAY!), but they're capacitive buttons and capacitive buttons are a plague on the auto industry. They're so glossy and under lit, I would take in-screen climate controls over these miserable buttons. The strangest part of those terrible buttons is that this vehicle has so many physical buttons that you never really have to touch. Hyundai built a great car, but the driver usability was a complete after thought, because this car is the most annoying car I have ever owned.

The title is catchy and fits the car

I love most of the car but here are a few things that don’t 1. Windshield wipers were streaky and terrible off the lot. I have never seen such cheap wipers and how often I have to use them it’s annoying and they are not that great in the rain as they streak so much regardless of cleaning 2. The usb charger in the front if the car only worked for week and it stopped. I have to already make a service appointment for this as only the back one works.. I wish the car had at least one regular usb instead of only being usbc mini.
