Can't beat it
When surveying the landscape for a 2-door sports car in my price range, I was left with several options: Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, Nissan 370Z, and used BMW M3s. Having been a prior Mustang owner, I was hoping to have another go at modding up another one. Sadly, at the time, the Mustang had less HP, smaller brakes, and no independent rear suspension. It was basically a newer version of my 1987 5.0. The Camaro, to me, is not a good looking car, and the lack of HP sealed its fate. The M3 was a romantic choice, with all the goodies and a sweet exhaust note, but used examples were in the 60k-80k miles range, and the service costs at that level are not something to look forward to. That left the Z as the closest competitor, but I just couldn't get by without the back seat. So the Genesis Coupe has filled every need, and checked every box for me. Room enough inside, just the right amount of tech and options, great exhaust note (thanks to Magnaflow), and proper suspension and HP. The only two drawbacks on an otherwise stellar car, is the intrusive nature of the stability control (which can be manually defeated) and the shifter, which can be vague at times. Otherwise, the grip and handling are terrific, the HP and driveability are great, and I've had no issues with the car to date. The highest compliment I can give is that I'd buy it again tomorrow. What more can you ask for from a car?
