Incredibly fun car, frustrating service experience
The 2023 Hyundai Elantra N is easily one of the most exciting and capable cars I've owned. The driving dynamics are sharp, the power delivery is addicting, and it delivers serious performance without sacrificing daily usability. It's a car that constantly puts a smile on your face.
That said, it does come with a few issues, and unfortunately, most of them are made worse by an unhelpful service department. Shortly after purchasing the car, the horn stopped working and I ended up replacing it with an aftermarket unit after reading some posts online that some people are on their FIFTH horn. I've had no issues since putting the aftermarket one on. The front passenger window moves noticeably slower than the others, but the service team refuses to address it. The black trim above the rear passenger door started peeling, and they wouldn't replace that either. The driver’s side headlight fogs up when washing the car, yet they declined to replace the moisture absorption packs inside the housing.
I also had a random “check collision sensor” warning appear. Instead of inspecting the sensor, the service department blamed my radar detector, even though it is not installed anywhere near the sensor. On top of that, the side skirt has cracked and the interior has some persistent rattles. The rattles are minor and probably unavoidable in a car like this, but still worth mentioning.
If Hyundai provided better support for this vehicle, it would be an easy five-star car. As it stands, the driving experience is fantastic, but be prepared for frustration if your dealership handles issues the way mine has.
