My Mazda Miata Scarlet will be with me for a long, long time.
The Mazda Miata is a cute sports car. People comment on the unique design, and admire the handling and the look of the Miata, and this classic is from the late 90's!
I love driving her, especially in the curves.
However, this sports car is a true sports car, and is not for everyone.
Yes the handling is great, as it is light and low to the ground. This is balanced by the lack of soundproofing (convertible) and sensitivity to every imperfection in the road. You will feel every minor pothole out there, and drive defensibly to avoid the big ones that might swallow this tiny car.
This model's idea of AC is taking down the roof. Which you might need as the motor tends to keep you toasty in the summer, even with the fan blowing.
But, I love the simplicity of the engine, to know how to maintain it without taking half of it apart as with more recent models.
I like that it is built for a maximum of two passengers, and is small enough to fit into some tight spaces. People are amazed that I can navigate thru tight spaces where others feel trapped.
For a vehicle of 19 years, her mileage of 36 highway is astounding. It may not be luxurious, but is something I can care for, and anticipate keeping its value for many years to come.
