A Vehicle Built for Real Life, Real Comfort, and Real Drivers

The 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe has honestly been a really good decision for us. We’ve owned a lot of vehicles over the years, and this one stands out because it feels comfortable, safe, and genuinely well thought out for real everyday driving. From the moment you’re behind the wheel, it gives a sense of confidence without feeling complicated. One of the things we appreciate most is how the technology supports the driver instead of overwhelming you. The safety and driver-assist features add peace of mind, and the layout feels intuitive — you don’t have to fight the car or spend time figuring everything out. The ride is smooth, the interior is quiet, and the seating is supportive enough for both short trips and longer drives. Could be great...

Overall this is a decent vehicle for the cost. However, there are a few issues which have really soured our experience in the first few months of ownership. First, the automatic proximity unlock feature is a complete disaster. It triggers much too easily, often when you're just moving around the house or garage. This happens over and over again and every time the vehicle unlocks, moves its mirrors, turns on lights, and probably does a bunch of other stuff. The end result is that you can EASILY kill the battery within just a day or two. This is what happened to us, which leads to the second major issue... The car comes with two key fobs but just a single emergency key, which is NOT stored in the key FOB like EVERY OTHER CAR EVER. That manual emergency key is required if you lock yourself out or the battery goes dead (see issue #1 above). If you don't have the emergency key and the battery is dead, there is nothing you can do. You literally have to call a locksmith to break into the vehicle. Hyundai's answer is that you should always carry the emergency key, but how is that possible if you have two drivers? Are you supposed to hand off the key everytime the other person drives? And who wants to carry TWO keys for one car? I honestly don't know what they were thinking... To add insult to injury, the emergency key is a special order part which takes days/weeks to be laser cut at the factory. The dealers do NOT have the ability to cut or provide this key for you. And get this - the key costs the little plastic case for the emergency key costs $50! Insane. The third issue is that the seating position and space for the driver is not great. Despite being an overall spacious vehicle, for some reason the driver ergonomics are very awkward. If you're tall you'll need to push the seat way back, but then the steering wheel is too far away and there still isn't enough legroom. I'm constantly hitting the shift stick with my knee. Fourth, the engine noise is atrocious. The rest of the vehicle feels quite refined, but as soon as you step on the gas the 4-cylinder screams like a go cart. It's really bad and ruins what would otherwise be a luxury experience. Why, why, why didn't they add more sound insulation? Finally, the rear of the vehicle is a bit of an abomination, style-wise. It seems they were SO intent on cramming as many "H"s into the design that all other design aesthetics went out the window. And it's not just looks - the rear lights are MUCH too low for safety, and heaven forbid you ever get into a fender bender. You'll have to replace not just the bumper but all the lights and electrics as well.

This is our second Santa Fe. First was a limited, great car, lots of features and benefits. This one is the Calligraphy series, we absolutely are impressed with this model.

Pleasantly surprised

Overall been very pleased with the car. Only thing that is annoying is you cant lock the doors with the door lock buttons when you exit the car. Love the remote start and ability to move the car with the key fob.

Honeymoon period is over

If I wrote this during the 1st week of owning the Santa Fe is would be so much better. Having the car belittle me and telling me I am a bad driver is infuriating. you try to even have a lane to drive in with 1 foot of snow on the road and cars not fully parked, but the car will tell me over and over again again to "consider taking a break". Makes me want to scream.

Reliable and Cool

I owned a hybrid Lexus ES 300h prior to this purchase. I changed because I was no longer commuting 50 miles to/from work. I also wanted something comfortable but that still had luxury qualities that I was used to in the Lexus. I have the 2026 Limited Santa Fe and so far I love it. I love the climate remote start, the Bluelink, the look (except for the wheels), and the interior. It rides great and does not feel like a massive truck/SUV. I had a friend buy the same one but the Calligraphy trim.

stay away from santa fe

my car went into service 6 days after purchasing it. they were not able to fix it and it has sat in service for 3 months. this car has issues and Hyundai wont acknowledge it. my car is actually approved for repurchase under the lemon law. it only had 511 miles on it. complete garbage

Don't like the newer steering it is worst i ever had

steering assist Fecher is the worst i have ever had it wanders all over the road and the lane keeping is worst it is a constant fight so there for i don't use it this is thew 13 or 14 Hyundai that i have owned all Santa Fe or Tusones the steering from 2024 back was a dream to drive
