Great car, annoying software choices
Almost everything about the car is amazing. This is my 4th Hyundai and it's the best yet. Some annoying software choices nag my daily experience though, and ultimately hold the car back from its full potential.
Namely, there are a handful of settings that one would expect to be saved from one drive to the next, or at least enabled upon logging into your driver profile. For instance, regenerative braking ALWAYS starts out turned off. Every time the car is started, the regen braking settings have to be turned on fresh. Similarly, lane KEEPING assist restarts from its last setting, but lane CENTERING always starts out disabled.
It's also annoying that when the battery is full, regen braking is fully turned off rather than simply paused to protect the battery. Meaning, if you want to use it again on that drive you have to manually turn it back on once the battery is low enough to use it again.
Another self-defeating issue is that when the car has something in front of it, but is in reverse, the car gives audible collision warnings from the thing it is moving AWAY from. As a result, I have had instances where because the unneeded alert was sounding (and being ignored) I have almost had collisions where something/someone suddenly moved into my path of travel and there wasn't a warning.
The car is bad about remembering seat location. Sometimes it returns back to its last setting, sometimes it stays where it moved to help with exiting the car. You can't apply your saved settings while moving, so you have to fiddle with the controls to try to get it to the correct spot.
The rear-hatch proximity opening is so sensitive that I have had it disabled for almost the entire 1.5 years of ownership. Even walking briskly past the hatch would cause it to open.
The only build issue I've had so far is a B-pillar rattle on the passenger side that despite a total of 6 weeks in my local dealership still hasn't been fixed.
I've also never gotten advertised MPG - I'm sitting at 29 lifetime average MPG vs advertised 34mpg.
