Hybrid lag

There’s a huge lag when taking off from a stop where you need to go quicker. The car will start moving approx. 5-10ft then it lags, as if it’s deciding hybrid or gas, finally picks and then will take off. I’ve almost been hit 2x now because the approaching car will be far enough away I can go, but, then I go, the car stops for approx. 5 seconds, then takes off again.

Bougie Feel

I have had my Sante Fe Hybrid (first hybrid ever) for exactly one year now and I LOVE it. The interior is really "bougie" and feels luxurious with a lot of great features. My primary love is the heads up display (a must for me) and the fun technology features. When I fill up I get almost 500 miles per tank which is good for a teacher budget. The exterior is great and the 3rd row is helpful on those last minute extra pick ups. I even have the cream interior leather and have kept it clean and new looking all year without a ton of work. My previous vehicle was a Palasaide which we still have for the kids to use which is a great vehicle too.

Nice overall but a few flaws

Car is mostly pretty nice. Runs well. Good fuel economy. I was really excited about the highway drive assist cruise control, but unfortunately it is very bad and dangerous- the gaze sensor is faulty so I have to repeatedly take my eyes off the road for about 2 seconds in order to attempt to satisfy the gaze sensor. I have reported this to Hyundai before and I was given a response to change a setting which I implemented that made no difference. Feel like this is a safety recall waiting to happen! Some luxury items are starting to not work as well (the seat coolers). The big dashboard is nice but the software could be better organized.

Build quality issues, trouble w/ dealership support. Like car's design

Rear fender flares don't line up perfectly. There are occasional loud cracking sounds while driving. My son (who was under 1 years old) pulled off the AC knob in the trunk - the dealer said replacing that would be around $1,000 because they'd have to take off the entire back panel. Panels in the trunk have popped out and become misaligned several times. Rear camera pauses and glitches which can be really dangerous since you're missing real-time video of what's behind you while you're backing up. Dealer reset, but didn't fix the issue. Apple CarPlay occasionally doesn't connect or will disconnect and we can't reconnect Experienced some issues where the trunk wouldn't open - which was very frustrating and could be dangerous. Saw online that others experienced this issue too. There's a leak coming from the rear exhaust that the dealership hasn't been able to identify or replicate (somehow) The touchscreen control panel (for AC, seat heaters, etc.) should be actual buttons. The touchscreen doesn't always respond if not pressed perfectly, which is hard to do while driving and trying to keep eyes on the road. Not a lot of engine power produced by the car when it needs it. Haven't been able to hit claimed estimated MPG average of 36mpg. Sometimes the phone key doesn't work, which is a little nerve racking and makes me worried to not also have my car key, which makes the phone key thing useless.

Love this Car!

Waited forever for Hyundai to come out with a hybrid that could compete with Honda and Toyota and they finally figured it out. And I LOVE the bosy style of the newer Santa Fe. I only wish they made the Tuscon in the same boxy style. I'd like a little smaller vehicle. But I am very pleased with the Santa Fe regardless of its size.

Failed to love up to it's promise

Since getting the car just a year ago it's already had multiple recalls. The tank barely gets over 500mi, while the commercials say 600mi a tank. The paint seems to be made in a fairy cottage because it comes off with the touch of a glove. Forget about opening the hood to check your oil or change your engine air filter because closing the hood will leave a dent in it. The hybrid doesn't come with a spare tire but still has all the placements for a spare tire. The touch screen for the climate slows down considerably when its cold. The hyundai bluelink is so tempermental. Oh too many clouds today? Looks like i wont be taking any ordera for your cars start up. Taking it to a dealer for your free maintenence is fun as well especially when they tell you the next available appointment is 3 months out. All in all its meh experience. For an suv thats over $50k it seems like all these things should be better.

Ruined a great vehicle with the new styling

The Santa Fe series has featured a long line of truly exceptional vehicles - loaded with very useful convenience and safety features at a great value. Sadly, WHY did they ruin it all with the horrible exterior redesign! Simply too ugly for me to buy one. Everyone has their own idea of what looks good suppose, but the sleek styling of prior years has been replaced by Land Rover-like boxiness.
