Great Overall
Overall very nice design and lots of features that cost more on other cars or are not even available including (on Calligraphy) in no particular order: massaging driver’s seat, heated and cooled front and second row seats, heated 3rd row seats, power folding 2nd and 3rd row seats, built in front and rear dash cams, digital key, window shades on the second row seats, power folding mirrors (finally! - I would not have bought the car without them), and a 5 year 60k mile bumper to bumper warranty, plus 10 years on the engine and powertrain including the batteries for the hybrid model. Other car manufacturers obviously don’t have as much confidence in their cars and only offer 3/36 warranties. The car gives a nice ride and is very quiet, and it has good power in the hybrid model. Gas mileage in the winter was about 30% less than rated, but since it has warmed up mileage is approaching the EPA rating. Negatives in no particular order are no spare tire, and the space for it exists under the car! They could have at least made that area accessible from inside the car to store stuff, especially since they stuck the 12v battery in the back storage area! I read that they deleted the spare to save weight. However, they included as standard equipment a heavy tow hitch. How many people tow? I would much rather have a spare. If you get a sidewall cut in your tire, you have to get your car towed to get a spare. The graphics in the manual are absolutely horrible. The font size on the screen for some items is WAY TO SMALL, especially those related to the radio. You should view this as a safety issue. A driver may stare at the screen for a longer time due to the small font, taking their eyes off the road. Twenty one inch wheels, really? They may look cool, but they do not give as nice a ride as smaller wheels, and 21” tires are more expensive. Stop the race for having the largest wheels on the planet! The steering wheel could extend further for tall people. As is, you have to put the seat a bit more forward than you would otherwise which brings your knees close to the lower part of the dashboard. The sanitizer in the center console is a waste. The fingerprint reader in place of the sanitizer switch as seen on non US cars would be much better. The small storage area below the climate controls is useless. If you step on the gas with any gusto, whatever is sitting in there falls out. The center console is too low. It was too low on the prior version of the Palisade as well. It is not that it is uncomfortable as-is, it’s that it is too low to rest your elbow on it and comfortably reach the steering wheel. And now that you put clamshell doors on the Calligraphy model, you can’t put a nice aftermarket pad there! So overall, would I recommend the car? Yes. Would I buy another if mine were to disappear? Probably, at least it would be on the short list.
