You made the Kona terrible

I have a 2026 Kona Premium. I traded in my 2021 Kona Ultimate because I started having transmission problems since I had 133k miles on it and the DCT transmissions crap. This new Kona is a horrible car. So horrible I'm going to either start complaining more to the service dept and then file a lemon law claim if they don't fix it. The car is extremely unstable especially in windy conditions. So much that it is unsafe. Ive almost wrecked it 3 times now when driving in high winds over 25 mph. It will not stay in a straight line. Even with the cruise control and lane control turned on, it will weave from side to side trying to keep itself between the lines. Also, car will not go into drive at times. From park I turn the weird shifting lever and it will tell me it's in drive but will not move. Does this everyday. I have to shift back to park then drive. Sometimes I have to do this multiple times to get it to go into drive and move. Also, at times the transmission will not shift correctly. It will rev way up past 4k rpm. I have to get off the gas pedal, which I'm just driving normally and not at high speed or anything like that, and then it'll shift. Also, the location of the gear shifter! What were you thinking??? I have accidentally put my car in NEUTRAL a few times now when I go to turn on my rear wiper! Terrible location for the shifter! This Kona makes my 6th Hyudai that I've purchased and will probably be my last unless you redesign them. Love my 2025 Tucson Hybrid, except for the shifter!

Unhappy Kona Buyer

Overall, I am happy with my Kona. I do have a problem with the interior door panels. Shortly after I bought the vehicle I noticed a horizontal scratch on the part of the door panels that encases the window controls etc. I brought the vehicle to the Dealer who said they corrected the problems. However, the scratch has been reappeared over time and whatever they used to cover it up has left dark shadows on the entire panel. I am very unhappy with this and I had expected better from Hyundai. I feel as if I am stuck with a new vehicle that is defective. Additionally, the drive side door does not shut properly. I need to pull it shut 2-3 times before it engages.

An Underrated Beauty

I drive a limited and the car looks chic and futuristic, it looks like it should be more expensive than it is. The gas mileage could be better but the car takes regular so it balances out. I love the variety of features in my car, especially the 360 view, the blind spot cameras, the ambient lighting, the heated seats and steering wheel, and the different driving modes. The screen is also beautiful and clear and the design of the center console is fun to play around with due to the extra storage compartments and the cup holders that can be flipped around. I look forward to driving my car every day and I am very happy with my choice to lease a Kona!

All but the seat

I love my vehicle. It rides well and it's very spacious on the inside without taking up a lot of room on the outside. I can fit two great danes in the back when the seats are down. It gets great milage and I love the big screen on the dash. My only criticism is the seats. I'm a Chiropractic Physician and these seats are awful. There is zero lumbar support so I have to use a separate pillow. The headrest is too far forward...so it pushes your head forward which straightens the curve in your neck. So I have to recline back to make my neck stop hurting..and then my back hurts. Awful seats in an otherwise fabulous car.

Love my Kona

I recently purchased a 2026 Hyundai Kona SEL Premium AWD and it has met every expectation, it has a larger engine than my previous Kona, it is a bit larger than what I had before. It rides really nice, gets great gas mileage, and the interior is so classy.

Kona Fit my

I hate the make-believe gear selector. I am short and I have a hard time viewing the engine on/off tab. The steering column gets in the way. I need to have more seat height too - I can't see over the hood.

Overall this is a good vehicle. I traded in a 2023 Kona for 2026. Unfortunately you don't realize until you have a couple of days in the new vehicle what's your lacking in comparison to your last vehicle. I thought I had the basic before but I definitely have the basic now. Good car, not great features it seems like Hyundai game 3 years and went back 3 years in the features in this vehicle.
