Too many unchangable settings and reflective surfaces
1.The brushed chrome like finishes reflect in the drivers window blocking the exterior mirror or show up on the windshield both are a serious distraction. 2. There is no way to either move the navigation screen to the right and make the radio icon left most, or to turn the navigation off completely since it isn't needed in city driving. 3. I would like if the radio portion could be full screen to better see the album and artist that are almost impossible to see on the right hand side. 4. Why isn't the space under the armrest enclosed? Every other car I've ever had including an Elantra had enclosed space below the armrest. There are things you would like to have out of sight but handy instead of having to rely on the glove box which requires a passenger to retrieve them or getting them the next time you are stopped. 5. The radio is way too complex. I cut my teeth on cars with preset buttons you pushed to get the channel you wanted. As it is you must select the source of the music and then which channel from that list and only if you mark a channel as one you like can you scroll thru them - otherwise you have to go thru menu after menu. 6. Look I appreciate the electronic nannies, but some are so hair trigger that they interrupt your driving. Example a car turning right ahead of you, the car jams on the brakes and screeches at you when the car is almost fully turned off the street. Some of these hair trigger nannies scare the living crud out of my wife who thanks when they go off we are about to crash or be crashed into. 7. Why can't you turn on the recirculate button and have it stay that way - now that it's summer it will stay activated but in the shoulder seasons you have to reset it every time you drive. The air here in Phoenix is horrible and there are tons of diesel pickups and frankly I don't want to breathe in either when I'm driving. 8.0 Why isn't there a button next to the hatch release that would lock all of the doors instead of having to wait until everyone has exits to lock the doors. I've had much cheaper low tech cars that had that feature. 9. Initial fuel economy was 30+ mpg but as more miles are added and you would think the motor is broken in the fuel economy has been a disappointment. Our trade in a 2017 Honda C-V AWD a bigger and heavier car consistently delivered over 30 MPG year around, my Kona consistently delivers 27 MPG for all driving conditions. 10. The dazzling cup holders will not hold larger mugs or travel cups and if you retract the little holders then the drinks tend to tip over. 11. The phone charger mat is spotty at best. It doesn't like some cases and only works consistently if you put a case less phone on it. 12. The car came with excellent long mileage tires, however while they will give excellent longevity the ride they deliver is punishing to say the least, the seats are supportive, but can't undo the harsh ride. 13. Why does this car still have a gas cap? So many cars including our old Honda had no cap you had to fiddle with then refueling. 14. Why must you select an additional cost "convenience package" to get some of the safety features other companies put on all of their cars irrespective of model or trim. 15. The cruise controls are not intuitive. Having to push a toggle switch to "resume" is just plain dumb when a simple "resume" button accomplishes the same result. 16. Having the phone buttons adjacent to the cruise controls (probably why there is a toggle switch for resume) when they might be just below the cruise control functions. Here in Phoenix it is abundantly clear that most drivers cannot walk and chew gum at the same time, so making hands free phoning is something that a fingertip away in my opinion should never be encouraged. 17. I understand the placement of the brake lights and turn signal lights were a design choice, and while we have not been rear ended (and hope to never be) the brake lights and turn signal lights are so low that you cannot comfortably use the quick touch of the turn signal lever for the three flashes because with the light so low I feel more comfortable holding the lever down longer just so those behind me might see that I an about to change lanes. 18. There is an abysmal lack of insulation in the roof of the car. When you put the sun visors away there is a distinct hollow sound and in now that its getting hotter out you can put your hand on the headliner and realize there is little or nothing between the roof and the headliner as its hot to the touch. 19. The door surfaces are unforgiving as they are all hard plastic surfaces. You cannot rest your arm next to the window or on the armrest or any other door surfaces. Come on - this car was just over $30K and the whole inside is cheap hard plastic. Didn't any of the engineers who thought these door panels were a good cost cutting measure ever have to drive these cars for more than a few blocks to understand these hard surfaces are the first and last things you recall when you drive because there is not any padded surfaces where you can rest your arm as you drive. This over time becomes something unforgivable and could eventually lead to getting rid of the car prematurely.
