Hyundai gets almost everything right!
The Kona EV is a great introduction to all-electric driving. The design of the car inside and out is futuristic and includes great tech. However, Hyundai doesn’t get everything exactly just right. This is the top trim (Limited), yet there is no seat & mirror memory. I’m the kk do of guy that takes a couple of weeks to find the exact right seat position, so I don’t let anyone else drive this car. But I am really pissed when the car wash attendant moves my seat. I can’t see why Hyundai did not include this feature - all the motors and switches are in place, it shouldn’t take more than an extra microcontroller and a couple of switches to implement, therefore very little extra money. The front cabin needs more storage (sunglasses, coins, tissues, napkins, notepad, and more). The 1st thing I had to do was order a padded console organizer so that hard things (sunglasses, pens, water bottle cap) don’t slide around and make a not-so-quiet cabin even noisier. The driver’s seat is too sit and firm. I all too frequently have to shift my body around to keep from feeling pain & stiffness. The cabin should be quieter than it is, but Hyundai must have left out any sound isolation treatment of any kind. Now that I got the negatives out of the way, the tech is fantastic. The wireless Apple Car Play is fantastic, along with the two large, wide screens; never a disconnect. The 360 all-around camera view is also a must have in my next car - the ability to pull in and out of spots with ease. I only drive about 5,000 miles per year, so charging my Kona once a weeks is just right for me. If we need to travel long distance, then my wife has a hybrid SUV that we can use.
